Take a look at the JMU Board.

Sounds fun

It must be nice to hate a coach who is 21-3.

We've had 3-21 coaches, in various sports, who were beloved. Go Tribe!

This was a majorly flawed JMU team. They just weren’t very good. We, as usual, pooped the bed against them as soon as we walked on the field but they should have lost to Elon and Elon was just awful. They basically had good DBs and good RBs ant that’s it. Coaching got them as far as they made it and their fans are delusional to think otherwise. It’s the worst JMU team I’ve seen in years and they made it to the semis. Their fans should build a statue for Cignetti tomorrow.

Would've been nice to have scheduled Howard prior to conference play.

For sure. Interesting read about Crist and his choices, seem to hinge a bit on the Spring Season.

JMU’s first 2 games will be on NBCSports Washington on cable. Not sure about the CAA games yet only on FLO i’m thinking right now.

I felt this way too after watching some of their early games but I think as the season went along, their QB settled down and started playing well. Once that happened, they looked pretty darn good to me. Not flashy, but they were able to get 4-5 yards every run and just march down the field on offense. They played a very good team yesterday and but for bone head mistakes, easily could have won.

I'm not sure how a "majorly flawed" team managed to make it to the semifinals.

I would agree that JMU (based completely on the first 3 game performances) looked bad in the early season. Even though they won all 3 games, they looked much worse than we are accustomed to. It was very apparent. But the JMU that played this week and last week is at least a top 4 FCS team. Probably top 3. QB Cole Johnson’s performance the last two weeks elevated the entire team.

I will readily admit to not watching them in the playoffs. I do think they were very much weaker on both lines than years past.

I watched that game. I also made it clear in my first post that the Tribe did what the Tribe has done for years now and crapped the bed immediately against JMU. It's fine. But it wasn't a very good team by JMU standards by a long shot. Maybe Johnson is the guy. I think we will get that answer during a real season and not 3-4 games. It was a weird season where some teams played a few games some played more. Some stayed healthy some didn't. Some lost kids to COVID and played poorly because of it. Some just didn't play those games. My original point was Cignetti did a great job getting JMU to the semis and the fans shouldn't be so dang whiny about game management, play calling or whatever and appreciate the coaching job he did.

It sure seemed like you were saying the team wasn’t good. The truth is, they were exceptionally good. Saturday’s third quarter meltdown doesn’t tell the whole story just like JMU whipping the Tribe’s ass severely short-handed doesn’t tell the whole story.

Agree on both counts. Despite being woefully shorthanded against the Dukes the Tribe showed signs of a developing highly competitive team this Spring. The Dukes impressed me in that game as a pretty complete team and that was born out over the remainder of the season. On the whole I thought JMU was better than Sam Houston who finally has a defense that truly compliments their very explosive offense. JMU lost that game because of a muffed kickoff and a guy named Jaquez Ezzard who we will see on Sundays in the future. Losing Johnson during the final drive was a killer as well.

And an all-American punter kicking into his blocker’s helmet, flipping the field by about 50 yards in the Kats favor. It all just added up. That 3rd quarter was an S-storm that I had the pleasure of watching from the first row in Huntsville. (It was not a pleasure) And that WR is incredible, agreed.

I was saying pregame that Cole Johnson’s play was the likely determining factor. That dude KILLED and we still lost. I was very wrong.

Ok, let’s see if we can reclaim this thread from butthurt JMU posters who had to endure such an epic collapse last week.

I’m going to be pulling for SD State for some of the reasons posted earlier. They have a solid defense and a wonderful fan base.

Sam Houston though had beaten in dramatic and consecutive fashion both North Dakota State and JMU. I have to think they will have momentum and fan advantages.

Should be a good game and good FCS representation.
