I worked for a Canadian Automotive firm for a short time as a consultant. They offered full paid family insurance for all their employees. When I asked their President why the unnecessary expenditure he said because No one else in the industry did it and besides I use the US insurance. He lived in Windsor and had an office in Dearborn. Didn’t speak highly of a Canadian system that makes you wait months to see a doctor.

He’s not the only Canadian I’ve worked with that comes across the border for healthcare.

We have wait times baked into the system here based on the cost of our inhumane profits over people outrageously overpriced privatized healthcare system. Your anecdotal experience is noted, Canadians and Brits rate their systems more favorably than we rate ours.

Medical tourism exists in every country, there is a Utah based health insurer that will literally pay you to travel to Mexico for particular prescriptions because it is more cost effective for them than paying the US cost.

We haven't had the best healthcare in the world in decades, the best healthcare in the world is impossible when access is inequitable. We have fallen so far behind the rest of the developed nations of the world where all citizens have access and medical debt isn't a thing and insurance isn't tied to your employer for the overwhelming majority.
