So....taxpayers pay for city-owned grocery stores and then, when those stores threaten privately owned stores, taxpayers will fund grants for those stores. The taxpayers just keep paying and paying, no matter what happens.

These people have absolutely no idea what they’re doing. here's an idea, lower taxes and eliminate useless government 'programs', grants and interventions and the useless people getting ridiculous salaries working for the useless governemnt programs and let the mearkets work efficiently to get groceries to the local people without the increased costs added by putting useless governemnt taxation and middlemen in between the business and the consumer, thereby actually driving costs down.
