RE: Leftist Utopia Thread
Quote:If you’re in New Jersey and in need of a driver’s license, your options just got upgraded.

As indicated by a Motor Vehicle Commission press release, on driver licenses and non-driver identification cards, X can mark the spot.

Clearly, whereas cities and states previously classified residents according to their sex, gender is the rubric of the day.

And as of Monday, in NJ, there are three:

Gender “X” will indicate a gender is unspecified, and it will be offered alongside the existing “M” (male) and “F” (female) gender choices on licenses and IDs.

To be clear, even if you don’t personally identify as someone without a sex, you can still employ the Xtra option:

This is offered not only to New Jersey residents who identify as non-binary, but for anyone who prefers that their gender not be specified on their license or ID.

Hence, there’ll be no evidence of genderlessness required. Rather than needing someone else to say you’re neither male nor female, you can just say it yourself: The “option is available…by self-attestation.”

If interested, all you must do is fill out a form and visit a licensing center as a walk-in.

Those giving up their maleness or femaleness will have to turn in their old IDs.

Additionally, an $11 fee will apply.

Some may wonder why Frank Sinatra’s home state is so late in 86’ing binary sex.

As it turns out, it’s the virus’s fault:

Originally planned for late 2020, the implementation of a gender “X” option was delayed due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, and it required modifications to the MVC computer system and completing the move to issue licenses and IDs via Central Issuance.

New Jersey’s certainly trying to get things right in the area of gender identity.

As I covered last month, the state’s legislature chose to school 5-year-olds on diversity and inclusion:

According to [a] new law, children in every grade — along with kindergarteners — across the state’s public education system will be given lessons about life.

The instruction — opposed by several Republicans — will promote “diversity, equity, inclusion, tolerance, and belonging in connection with gender and sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, disabilities, and religious tolerance.”

Assemblyman Brian Bergen wasn’t in favor:

“If we as parents want to explain different identities or sexual preferences, then that’s our prerogative and our choice. This is not a decision for the school system, and this is not a decision for the Legislature.”

However, NJ.com noted many believed it was time:

Supporters argued students are already talking about these very issues. Teachers need guidance to help them teach children to accept, tolerate and appreciate differences among them, they said.

Either way, New Jersey was already teaching an LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum — it was the 2nd state to do so.

And now, identity is offered to ladies, gentlemen, and Xs.

“We’re thrilled that New Jersey has joined 19 other states and Washington, DC in offering X gender markers on driver’s licenses and state IDs,” Garden State Equality Executive Director Christian Fuscarino said in the release.

Motor Vehicle Commission Chief Administrator Sue Fulton hailed NJ’s code of conscience:

Diversity and inclusion are core values for New Jersey, and for all of us at the MVC. We know this new option will be deeply impactful for many residents, as access to resources and the ability to live and work freely so often hinges on having documentation that correctly reflects your identity.

Back to Frank, things have certainly changed since his day.

Twelve years after his 1939 New Jersey wedding, ol’ Blue Eyes ended up divorced.

These days, in addition to becoming someone’s ex…you can become your own.

Ontario activists claim ravines are racist

Quote:A new analysis by The Globe and Mail's Urban Affairs reporter and Architecture Critic argues that race, gender, and economic status "can all be barriers" to Toronto's free and publicly accessible green spaces.

The article asserts that Toronto's ravines are only accepting of people's different backgrounds and income levels "in theory," and cites the case of black outdoorswoman Jacqueline L. Scott, who says that the lack of diverse faces makes it less likely for people of colour to go to green spaces—something that is sometimes called a self fulfilling prophecy.

The article argues that concerns around representation discourage "racialized people" living near ravines from using their public backyards, and that hurdles such as a "lack of signs indicating where to enter a ravine" remain in place.

Another barrier, according to University of Toronto doctoral student Ambika Tenneti, is that "people of colour communities like to sit and chat around," an activity that is difficult to do in ravines, which are "generally trails."

"You just have to walk and there's no place to sit down or anything," she says.
The Globe and Mail piece also lacks in originality.

A recent Los Angeles Times article also argued that "longtime oppression and historical barriers" were responsible for keeping people of colour "from feeling comfortable in American outdoors."

Activist groups, such as Latino Outdoors, called the removal of barriers in free-to-use public parks and trails "the hike before the hike."

This article was thoroughly scrutinized by comedians Tom Segura and Christina Paczynski on an episode of their podcast Your Mom's House.

"So they're saying that social conditions have kept minorities from going outside?... Is this sh*t ever going to stop?" asked Segura, to which his wife and co-host comments that "'woke' has officially jumped the shark."

"Los Angeles, the name itself, we're kind of friendly towards Latino people. It's majority latino," said Paczynski—an argument that can also be applied to Toronto, a city that has been majority-minority since 2017.

Quote:The children’s cartoon, “Bluey,” which features a family living in Australia, came under fire last week for failing to embrace woke culture, and for lacking “diversity” in its cast.

Its cast, though, is entirely made up of anthropomorphized dogs.

“Bluey is the award-winning, mega-hit animated series about the Heelers, a family of dog-shaped humans — parents Bandit and Chilli, four-year-old Bingo, and six-year-old Bluey — who live in a gorgeous Queenslander with city views, perched on a lush hilltop in sunny Brisbane,” a critic for Australia’s ABC Everyday wrote last week, referencing the cartoon which now appears in the United States on the Disney+ streaming network and, in parts, on YouTube.

“The animated show for preschool children follows Bluey, an anthropomorphic six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy, and her family as they go about life in Brisbane and learn important life lessons,” Yahoo News added, noting, again, that Bluey and family are cartoon dogs that handle very human issues, like loneliness and an ageing grandparent, in a sensitive and appropriate way for children.

The show has been hailed as an excellent resource for parents who are encouraged to follow the dog parents’ lead and allow their children to express themselves with frankness.

“They’re very good at getting them to open up. They’re not driving the story. They’re not driving the game,” one critic told ABC Everyday of the dog parents, Bandit and Chilli. “Seeing how they let their kids take the lead and how much initiative the kids will then take — because I am an enthusiastic player, I guess I could reflect on that. I can look back and say, ‘Oh, I might have been dictating the games a bit too much.'”

But the show, one critic contends, is far from perfect because it focuses on a heteronormative, two-parent dog family that clearly lives a middle-class existence without encountering diversity, despite theoretically living in one of Australia’s largest cities.

“Where are the disabled, queer, poor, gender diverse, dogs of colour and single-parent dog families in “Bluey’s Brisbane?” Beverly Wang wrote in ABC Everyday. “If they’re in the background, let them come forward.”

Wang concedes that Bluey’s creators, writers, and animators may not “view their show through a political lens” the way that she does but, she contends, that’s part of the problem. Children who are not exposed to an endless politicization of their surrounding culture might grow up embracing more conservative ideas.

“As a parent of colour, I am always conscious of the presence — or absence — of diverse representation in kids’ pop culture, what it means for children and the conversations we have around that,” Wang wrote. “I sincerely believe you don’t have to be ‘other’ to think about this too.”

“I wonder about the limits of modelling imaginative play for parents and children who don’t see themselves in the ‘true Blue(y)’ comfortably middle class, Australian nuclear family embodied by the Heelers. Who’s missing out?” she mused.

The problem, Wang says, goes beyond Bluey. In fact, it’s an issue with children’s programming and literature across the board, which rarely forces impressionable kids to confront their own problematic realities.

The “majority of characters on children’s television are white,” Wang said, and “more animals than people of colour protagonists populating the pages of children’s books.”

Although the essay was widely critiqued as “woke,” some Bluey viewers did note that the show could do with updating. One social media user even suggested that Bluey be given a “trans friend.”

“People exist, these dogs are stand-ins for people you know,” the commenter added.

They need to leave Bluey alone. Anybody that thinks toddlers need to be exposed to the woke bull**** need to be castrated and forced to stay far away from children.

RE: Leftist Utopia Thread
Quote:Minnesota continues to get more than its share of news.

That certainly goes for news related to racism.

As relayed by The College Fix, a small college in the state is really upping the ante where it comes to fighting the foe.

Northfield’s Carleton College is forcing faculty to attend “antiracism” training sessions.

As a reminder, the concept isn’t about simply not being racist.

A rundown from CNN:

Some white people know that to become anti-racist, they must start to listen and brush up on the history of racism in their countries.

Some people are describing obviously racist behavior as the tip of the iceberg — calling people racist names or threatening people on the basis of race.

Then there’s the part of the iceberg that’s not easily visible to people if they’re not looking. This includes a range of subtle but insidious attitudes, behaviors and policies.

Among these are microaggressions. They are brief and commonplace verbal, behavioral or environmental indignities, [psychologist Beverly Tatum] said.

Examples of such microaggressions:

“Don’t blame me. I never owned slaves.”
“All lives matter.”
“I’m colorblind; I don’t care if you’re white, black, yellow, green or purple.”
Not only is Carleton insisting faculty get schooled in the ways of antiracism, it’s requiring that programs be attended monthly.

The institution’s website lays down the law:

All faculty/staff will need to either attend the live session or watch the recorded session each month.

Apparently, not everyone on staff appreciates the “Affinity Group” training.

To those in charge, it seems, that only proves those people are racists.

Per an alleged slide from the March meetings:

We’ve been told that in some groups that, after saying that there’s no racial problem at Carleton, some people just refuse to participate.

This is uncomfortable, but totally predictable. After all, a refusal to acknowledge racism as real helps keep the system intact.

And here’s an excerpt some might consider ironic:

People have very different perspectives and are at very difference places on the issue of race. So don’t try and convert them to seeing your truth.

Reportedly, the training directly resulted from the demands of 13 students.

Calling itself the “The Ujamaa Collective,” last summer, the group submitted a 10-page document titled “Our Demands.”

“We, as black students at Carleton,” it explained, “desire to see our institution take swift, clear, and forceful actions on issues that affect the mortality (of) Black people and the wellbeing of Black students.”

Therefore:

[T]here…needs to be a recognition that black students at Carleton are not always made to feel safe, supported, or equal to their peers.

One demand: money.

From the Fix:

The list…included a call for “all members on this committee” to “receive financial compensation” because “Black students bear the burden of promoting and addressing issues facing the Black community, receiving no material support from the College.”

As for the aforementioned slide, it also stated, “[P]eople need time to understand that a completely different reality exists on campus for many of the folks they see every day.”

That notion of different experiences also applies to the training — it’s segregated.

From the website:

There are 12 sessions per month: 1 biracial/multiracial; 1 open to all races; 2 BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color); 8 white.

According to the Fix, “Affinity” refers to an affinity for one’s own skin color.

Hopefully, the training will remedy Carleton’s disparities. The liberal arts school deserves to be great — after all, its site advertises “unmatched teaching.”

As for unmatched unity, an educated guess tells me it might have a ways to go.

That's it! I'm never shopping at Target again. Oh, wait......I don't shop there now. Never mind.

I do like that their name is target. I hope the kids light them up during their next riot, er......peaceful protest. Would serve them right.

Nonprofit ‘Gender Nation’ Donates Thousands of ‘Inclusive’ Books to Elementary Schools in San Diego

Quote:Of the sixteen books on the Gender Nation book list, 7 explicitly endorse childhood transgenderism and/or gender fluid ideology. They include:

I Am Jazz, by Jessica Herthel and YouTube star Jazz Jennings. “From the time she was two years old, Jazz knew that she had a girl’s brain in a boy’s body.” (Age: 4-8 years)

George, by Alex Gino. “When people look at George, they think they see a boy. But she knows she’s not a boy. She knows she’s a girl.” (Age: 8-12 years)

It Feels Good To Be Yourself, by Theresa Thorn. “Some people are boys. Some people are girls. Some people are both, neither, or somewhere in between.” (Age: 4-8 years)

Some of the kids’ books approach gender fluidity through metaphor, which may cause confusion in adults as well as children:

Neither, by Airlie Anderson. “In the Land of This and That, there are only two kinds: blue bunnies and yellow birds. But one day a funny green egg hatches, and a little creature that’s not quite a bird and not quite a bunny pops out. It’s neither!” (Age: 4-8 years)

Red: A Crayon’s Story, by Michael Hall. “Red has a bright red label, but he is, in fact, blue.” (Age: 4-8 years)

From the Stars in the Sky to the Fish in the Sea, by Kai Cheng Thom. “The only problem is they can’t decide what to be: A boy or a girl? A bird or a fish? A flower or a shooting star?” (Age: 3-8 years)

An additional 3 books discuss gender-nonconforming dress and/or a child’s fascination with dressing as the opposite gender:

Annie’s Plaid Shirt, by Stacy B. Davids. “Annie loves her plaid shirt and wears it everywhere…She feels weird in dresses. Why can’t her mom understand?” (Age: 3-8 years)

Julián is a Mermaid, by Jessica Love. “All he can think about is dressing up just like the ladies in his own fabulous mermaid costume. But what will Abuela think about how Julián sees himself?” (Age: 4-8 years)

One of a Kind, Like Me, by Lauren Mayeno. “Tomorrow is the school parade, and Danny knows exactly what he will be: a princess. Mommy supports him 100%.” (Age: 4-8 years)

Sparkle Boy, by Leslea Newman. “When older boys at the library tease Casey for wearing ‘girl’ things, Jessie realizes that Casey has the right to be himself and wear whatever he wants.” (Age: 5-8 years)

An additional three titles discuss homosexuality, nontraditional family structure and LGBT activism:

And Tango Makes Three, by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell. “The heartwarming true story of two penguins who create a nontraditional family.” (Age: 2-5 years)

The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived, by Daniel Errico. “Knights, dragons, and princesses are the things all good fairy tales are made of, but what happens when the tale has an LGBTQ ending?” (Age: 5-6 years)

Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag, by Rob Sanders. “In this deeply moving and empowering true story, young readers will trace the life of the Gay Pride Flag, from its beginnings in 1978 with social activist Harvey Milk and designer Gilbert Baker to its spanning of the globe and its role in today’s world.” (Age: 5-8 years)

The final 2 books, It’s Okay to Be Different by Todd Parr and Marisol McDonald and the Clash Bash by Monica Brown appear to focus on individuality without overt gender focus.

University of California Is Hiring Someone to Host Climate Healing Circles and Lead Transgender Backpacking

Quote:The concept of education continues to evolve.

Not long ago, school was a place where kids learned reading, writing, math, science, and history.

Though courses at the college level broadened, they generally sprung from the above or focused on an employable skill.

These days, it seems, education is the process of acclimating to engineered cultural mores.

Furthermore, it’s a place of political and social consciousness.

Apropos, at the University of California Berkeley, they’re looking to hire a Wellness and Environmental Justice Coordinator.

The new staffer will be in charge of student environmental programs such as:

Wellness collaboration days
Meet-ups with Bay area QT+ (Queer, Transgender, Plus) and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People Of Color) climate activists
Climate healing circles
What’s the job qualification?

Intention.

Plus more:

Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs. Analytical/problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; both verbally and in writing.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Knowledge of current social and environmental issues
Critically engagement and intention of justice and liberation over status quo/reformation.
The college sets it up thusly:

At the University of California, Berkeley, we are committed to creating a community that fosters equity of experience and opportunity, and ensures that students, faculty, and staff of all backgrounds feel safe, welcome and included.

UCB makes clear its mission:

[Berkeley] is one of the world’s leading institutions of higher education, distinguished by its combination of internationally recognized academic and research excellence; the transformative opportunity it provides to a large and diverse student body; its public mission and commitment to equity and social justice…

Hence, the university’s “looking for equity-minded applicants who represent the full diversity of California and who demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds present in our community.”

“When you join the team at Berkeley,” the ad guarantees, “you can expect to be part of an inclusive, innovative and equity-focused community that approaches higher education as a matter of social justice that requires broad collaboration among faculty, staff, students and community partners.”

Equity is certainly the word of the day. It’s surprising how quickly “equality” was replaced.

Transgender Child Rapist Freed Despite Attacking Prison Guards After They Took Her Shaving Razors

Quote:Marcia Walker, a male-to-female transgender child rapist in one of Britain’s maximum-security prisons has been freed despite admitting to attacking guards after they took her razors, preventing Walker from shaving.

Walker, who was previously known as Mark Walker before claiming to be transgender, has legally been recognised as female by the British prison authorities, however, was incarcerated in HM Prison Frankland, a ‘Category A’ men’s prison in County Durham.

The Crown Court in Durham heard that Walker spat at the officers, declaring that “I have COVID,” according to The Telegraph.

Walker claimed that by taking away the ability to shave, the guards had contributed to feelings of gender dysphoria, saying: “They cannot take my razors from me.”

The court heard that during the same incident, Walker threatened to kill the prison’s custody manager, Michael Roachford, as well as threatening another inmate. The transgender inmate had previously been angered that prison staff removed National Geographic magazines as they contained pictures of naked children.

Mr Roachford, in a statement given to the court, characterised Walker as “a white, transgender inmate legally recognised as a female”.

“In my role as custody manager, I should not expect threats to kill me. Marcia has a history of making threats,” he said

In defence of Walker, barrister Fiona Lamb said: “The defendant has had quite an unpleasant experience being in custody. I’m sure no one enjoys it, but because of the defendant’s personal circumstances it has been very difficult for her.”

Despite Walker admitting to the crimes, Judge Ray Singh only imposed a fifteen-month sentence, suspended for two years, meaning that Walker will be released from prison.

Judge Singh acknowledged that he had “real concerns” over releasing the child rapist, but said that he will take “a chance” on Walker, given the issues of being imprisoned in a male facility.

Walker was first jailed in 2003 for the rapes of two underage girls, including a four-year-old. Walker was also convicted on multiple counts of producing and distributing indecent photographs of children.

Walker was jailed again in 2012 for making a bomb threat against then-Home Secretary Theresa May and made another bomb threat in 2017 against the Long Lartin prison where the rapist was incarcerated at the time.

In 2019, the UK opened its first transgender prisoner wing in a women’s prison in Downview. The move came after a series of sexual assaults against female prisoners from biological male inmates who identified as women.

In a notable example, convicted rapist Karen White, who was previously known as Stephen Wood, was convicted of sexually assaulting several female inmates after being transferred to a women’s prison after identifying as female.

A 2017 report claimed that nearly half of male-to-female transgender inmates were convicted sex offenders.

Powerhouse Hollywood Talent Agency Faces #MeToo Reckoning

Quote:In the latest blow for an industry already reeling from public perceptions of hypocrisy, one of Hollywood’s most powerful talent agencies is facing numerous allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and fostering an abusive work environment.

ICM, which represents A-listers like Ellen DeGeneres, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock, pledged in 2017, at the height of the #MeToo movement, to help change the culture in Hollywood by making sure at least half of its leadership positions were filled by women within three years. Superficially, at least, the company claims to have achieved that goal. But a bombshell report in The Los Angeles Times Wednesday detailing more than 30 complaints of inappropriate conduct suggests it has failed to live up to the spirit of the promise.

Almost a dozen female ICM employees told Times reporter Wendy Lee they were mistreated by male coworkers and reported the conduct to HR or their superiors, with no discernible change in the agency’s culture. Women outside the company who work closely with ICM agents also reported receiving unwanted sexual advances. Among the most serious accusations the Times details — that top agent Steve Alexander (who represents John Travolta) exposed himself to a female film executive inside her car, and agent Kevin Hussey tried to kiss a client in a hotel lobby.

ICM told the Times it addressed the complaint against Hussey by assigning the client to other agents but said its HR department has no record of other allegations. The company said in a statement it doesn’t “tolerate harassment, bullying or other inappropriate conduct.”

In the last two years, the agency has also made a public show of diversity, saying in an internal memo last June it would, “make every effort to hire diverse candidates for at least half of all open positions going forward.” But the Times suggests that, too, may have been little more than window dressing as minority employees complain of being used as tokens. Lee reports black staffers claim they were coerced into appearing in trainee videos to telegraph a commitment to diversity that was only skin deep.

Jabari McDonald, who worked as a media rights assistant, said he and two other black staffers were asked to pose as agent-trainees to make the program appear more diverse. ICM admitted this claim is true but chalked it up to poor judgment, saying, “it was quickly corrected.” The company also didn’t deny accounts from former staffers of being screamed at and called names by senior executives, one of whom threw a package at an assistant’s head when she failed to secure him a lunch reservation.

Facing a barrage of bad press, ICM’s female board members appear to be attempting to form a pink wall around the company. When I called to ask if the 2017 pledge to promote the safety and success of women amounted to little more than a PR stunt, Corporate Communications Coordinator Niki Costa emailed me a statement from three female ICM board members.

“Any insinuation that our 50/50 by 2020 pledge was an insincere marketing ploy is utterly irreconcilable with both the facts and our personal experience,” Lorrie Bartlett, Jennifer Joel and Janet Carol Norton said. The trio continued, “In a challenging, competitive, and labor-intensive industry that demands much of its participants, we feel privileged to enjoy both a safe and encouraging environment, fair and abundant opportunities, and the respect and support of all colleagues of all genders.”

Ironically, one of ICM’s highest-profile clients, Shonda Rhimes, is a founding member of the #MeToo activist group Time’s Up. And former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson hired the company to manage her career in the wake of her sexual harassment allegations against Roger Ailes. Based in part on public perception that Carlson went to war against powerful, abusive men, the agency quickly landed her an upfront deal with A&E. The Daily Wire reached out to Time’s Up for comment on this story and did not receive a timely response.

Should Rhimes, Carlson, or any other ICM clients who’ve become public faces of #MeToo decide to jump ship, the beleaguered agency could join the ranks of The Weinstein Company and other one-time power players who suddenly find themselves on the D-list.

Report: 1st Grade Teacher Reads Book To Students About Transgenderism. Female School Board Prez, Who Owns Sex Shop, Does Not Object.

Quote:In a first-grade class in Bellingham, Washington, the teacher decided to educate her children in the value of transgenderism, reading them “I Am Jazz,” a book about a two-year-old biological male starting to transition to a female.

As Kara Zupkus of Young America’s Foundation detailed, Jennifer Miller, a first-grade teacher in Bellingham School District, was confronted by one angry parent, who demanded in an email, “Did you read this book to 1st graders today?”

Miller defiantly responded, “Yes, I did read this book. As a district we are working hard to support all members of our school community and promote inclusion through understanding and compassion.” Zupkus reported, “Concerned parents reached out to school administrators and the school board, both of whom refused to take action.”

The overview for the book “I Am Jazz” states, “From the time she was two years old, Jazz knew that she had a girl’s brain in a boy’s body. She loved pink and dressing up as a mermaid and didn’t feel like herself in boys’ clothing. This confused her family, until they took her to a doctor who said that Jazz was transgender and that she was born that way.”

Zupkus noted that Jennifer Mason, president of the Bellingham School Board, owns and operates WinkWink, a sex boutique in downtown Bellingham which, according to The Western Front, is a “gender-inclusive, woman-owned, all-ages sex shop.”

Mason stated, “I always thought that maybe I’d one day run for office, and maybe one day I would open a store, but I didn’t expect that those could happen at the same time.” The store reportedly offered informational classes on topics including “Intro to Vibrators” to “Butt Stuff Basics.” Mason boasted, “Many of us become adults that are still lacking in the language and information to have the type of sex life that we’d like to have. The classes are really to help broaden people’s understanding and skills,” adding, “I’ve always done important work, but I really wanted to do something that was important and fun. There are few things more fun than getting to talk to people about sex all day.”

“I am a lifelong feminist and all of the work that I have ever done has been focused on people who have been marginalized,” Mason stated. “I’m always going to do my best to center marginalized people. “All of us need to have our eyes wide open about the ways that conservatives want to legislate our bodies and that their actions will impact the people who are already more marginalized,”

“Mason, who has held her presidential position since 2017, was approached by concerned parents about pushing transgenderism on their first-grade children. She did not provide a response to their concerns,” Zupkus wrote. “An angry parent went so far as reaching out to Bellingham Public Schools superintendent, Greg Baker, with his concerns. Baker refused to engage over email with the parent, and instead requested a phone call–but shut down the idea once the parent asked if he could record the call.”
