It can legitimately be for both, especially when they increase the population for student residency. With that being said, if there's a demands beyond that by around 2024-25, the can add an upper deck (or two to be honest yet not pushing for that too quickly) if needed.

RE: Liberty University Facilities Thread
Yea, I imagine it would have to be overflow for the students, not a replacement. I think the student section was completely packed in the 2019 opener against Syracuse, so if more than 7k ever want to come, there's literally no where for them to go without taking paid seats.

I thought Ian used a term like tiering the berm, so I'm not sure if that's different than just putting traditional seats in there? I thought the idea originally was for people to sit on the turf itself, untill it was made too steep, so it makes me imagine a more natural stone ledges placed in there.

Whatever gets more people in the stadium is good with me. I don't care if they are students or paying fans, doesn't matter. The important thing is providing them a worthwhile experience that makes them repeat customers, hopefully starting or continuing a strong tradition.

I think this is sign for LU to add men's lacrosse and women's golf in the ASUN. Let's do it! Lol

That would be great! The more sports, the better!

We’re not adding Lacrosse anytime soon. Women’s golf possibility but Title IX prevents us adding any men’s sports. We just maxed every women’s scholarships to match the football scholarships that we added so we wouldn’t have to add a sport. From what I’ve been told, men’s hockey would be added before Lacrosse which again won’t be anytime soon. Right now we’re set. If we need to add a sport, it’s going to be women’s golf.

Racking my brain, I do recall a conversation a couple years ago with someone in-the-know that women's golf has been one of the sports most considered for expanding our DI offerings. Where that stands now after COVID is to be seen, but a lot of things seem to point to it.

Honestly I think this, and a lot of the facilities, are ridiculous spending. There is no need for it and shows a lack of judgment in the university. Can someone explain the need for this?

I think that the video explains the need for the student athletes especially when the weather is quite bipolar during the late winter-spring. A recruiting boost is a huge value by itself for future. Growth of the athletic programs means more money and growth for a national brand.

The main reason for this facility is basically for the baseball and softball teams. Dot and Scott were pushing for an indoor practice facility for some
time, now they got indoor batting cages and an indoor field. Also the football, fh, and the soccer teams won’t have to share the indoor practice facility.

I haven’t been able to find any recent news on the expansion of Camp Hideaway Lake. I hope that project hasn’t been dropped or put on the backburner. It was such a great concept.

To be fair, Camp Hideaway is one of those projects that they tell you about at the beginning & end but not much in between, just due to its location & affect on the D1 teams & the rest of campus.

I'm sure we'll hear something again as they finish working on it.

They're likely working on it since the expansion will contribute with athletes along with academia. Looks like the projects that has some focus on athletics is in the front of the list (next realignment is near) while academia has been put on hold.

Really think a focus on academia should foremost at this point, noting that we need to connect with other University presidents 03-banghead

RE: Liberty University Facilities Thread
I do hope that we will have ankther academia focus that occurred last decade soon. Of course we can hope for this, but there's also procedures that the school have to take with the city or county that the campus exist in. We have had a few declines from officials and residents for building academic facilities but not athletic buildings. I'm not implying that it's the reason of why we haven't seen any production on acedimic buildings, but I know they had issues before with their plans.
