Don't they already have that and what happens when SDSU plays Temple on TV in front of 5k fans?

RE: Prospective expansion question
Plan A:

Aresco seeks and obtains the agreement of the AAC and ESPN to bring Boise State into the conference for their first year (or could be two years) as an all-sports member, with a proviso stipulating that Boise State agrees to relocate their BB/olympic sports into another conference no later than the end of their second season in the AAC.

Plan B:

Aresco seeks permission from the AAC Presidents to make the following proposal to ESPN (or, if he's feeling particularly bold, one day, he simply picks up the phone and phones his contacts at ESPN on his own volition to discuss the proposal with them, expecting that, if successful, the plan will be approved by the AAC Presidents (crippled as they seem to be, by terminal or cataplectic indecisiveness).

(01-09-2021 05:43 PM)panama Wrote:  You forgot the Plan C where Aresco gets Boise State to relocate their university to Kansas...

I left out plans D, E, F, and G, too.

Unfortunately, it seems that the AAC leadership went with "plan ZZZ" (sleeping through the whole thing).

No. I am suggesting that at that point people in either city say who cares because they have no relation to the team they are playing.

Unfortunately, it seems that the AAC leadership went with "plan ZZZ" (sleeping through the whole thing).

The BoiseDev / Idaho Press article highlighted that Boise and the AAC had talks going back to the BSU dissatisfaction with the mwc in January.
The cbssports / Dennis Dodd article talked about Aresco having discussions with former BSU president Kustra. Reported seeing emails with Aresco's email address. Reported that Aresco had updated the AAC presidents as recently as a month ago.

Sensible people would have retracted their earlier overreactions that nothing was being done when there were credible media reports that in fact things were being done, those things just had been kept confidential as they should have been.
Nope, you double down on the stupid.

The AAC is not sleeping through anything. The conference and its members are doing due diligence. And they'll get to a decision for the conference taking a lot of variables and cost-benefit analysis into account. Maybe Boise will end up joining. Maybe those deliberations will find Boise wanting. Maybe we could come to agreement for football-only, but it's unexecutable because Boise can't find an all-sports home.
You or I not being privy to all the details is a good thing. WSU actions were kept very quiet before they were announced; that was a good thing.

You don't get to choose who you serve with, who you command, or who is your commanding officer. I have noticed that a lot of those who did a fairly lengthy time in the service are remarkably good at being diplomatic and/or neutral when dealing with difficult people.

I'll go one more -- I want to be sure and be clear that "stupid" was intended to be attached to the notion that just because we fans don't know what's going on behind the curtain, it must be nothing going on (and not to be attached to any individual).

This is an escape for me, a diversion. I enjoy the exchange of ideas, because I know I don't know everything. Being intentionally antagonistic wouldn't get me what I want out of reading and commenting here. I even had to stop and think about whether it upset me that the WMU/Army bronie was unsatisfied with my responses (Narrator: He wasn't upset.)

Again this is a trait I have noticed when working or dealing with them, they are very goal focused and not interested in anything that delays the achievement or doesn't contribute to its accomplishment. It's a very utilitarian function, makes for great coworkers and team builders.

I'll still correct errors of fact. And especially if it seems to me that someone's logic path is starting from an error or flaw, but I won't spend much energy on how or what that logic path is.

And more...a couple of posters on this board and the others have noted that English isn't a first language - I hope I'll remember that and not go in too hard on semantics or word usage. Or a poster who has said he has MS - that post gets a little credit if it might have been harder for him to make. Or some posters are older and just not as adept at this medium.

Yeah plenty of times I'll just cruise on by, as you say. If it's something that truly bothers me, then it will continue to bother me going back and forth on it, and I don't need that energy.
Everyone on here is a fan, and good on ya, every one.

Same idea but without the extra baggage though. The future of most Olympic sports is that there will be more regional based conferences and meets. The only sports that the West teams will have to travel for are Volleyball, M/W basketball and Football and possibly Softball as they all have that. However, I think your going to need 6 football teams in the West as doing this without AFA makes zero sense.

West

BYU
Boise
SDSU
UNLV
CSU

Looking at that information, we need to keep a close eye on SBC East teams as that is our best bet for an addition in the long term if any one of their teams can sustain their success for several years.

App. State has been the 3rd highest ranked non-P5 team in the Massey Composite Rankings over the past 3 seasons, just ahead of Boise St.:

Appalachian State:

2018: #27
2019: #19
2020: #34

Average rank: 26.7

Boise State:

2018: #25
2019: #23
2020: #33

Average rank: 27.0

Those three share intense rivalries arguably one of the most storied at the G5 level with App and GS and Georgia smack in the middle. That's fertile recruiting in the most populated metro in southeast Merica.
