With about 6 minutes left in the game, Will Barton seemed to freak out that he only had 5 points in the game. They did not pass the ball to Tarik the remainder of the game. Will took a bunch of ill-advised shots. The tigers lost a 7-point lead from that point on and lost the game by 2.
This years' team reminds me of that. Hopefully, Penny can get them to put their egos aside and play team basketball.
Where WHO was unstoppable ?
That guy that started for the Lakers but our clown coach wouldn't start him. Then he quit the team because he didn't want to play "monkey in the middle" during practice like that coach requested. Remember who that coach was?
i may be alone here, but i appreciate jsw's shtick.....he's the WHO guy....
the fact that he's also a Pastner apologist is just icing on the cake.
Thanks !

I've been watching Tigers basketball since Bartow's first season. We used to sneak into the games at the MSC. Josh is the only Memphis coach I have ever rooted against.
I used to usher at the MSC for MEMPHIS TIGER BB---but what you said is very telling. I for one have NEVER NEVER rooted against the MEMPHIS TIGERS !!

RE: Gregg Marshall - Is he on the short list in our AD's pocket
We don't know how things would've gone last year under normal circumstances. If we had made the tournament, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
We don't really even know if attendance would've taken a hit this year with the same results and no COVID restrictions. But I think it's safe to say that we're not going to dump a Memphis legend without giving him more of a chance than we gave a third assistant -- even though he did have better results by now.
Pastner's mark was to get us back to somewhat approaching what we had with his predecessor -- probably unrealistic for anyone, especially a rookie head coach. That bar has been adjusted downward several times since then. If Penny made the tournament as many times as Pastner in the same time period -- which would probably mean running the table after this year -- he'd be considered a success without a doubt. I don't think Marshall's going to be getting that phone call from us anytime soon. I think Penny's here at least another three years regardless -- and hopefully he'll deserve a lot more by then.

I can't imagine a time rooting against the Tigers. Seriously? Having said that, and I liked Josh, his time was up when he left.

I rooted against him so he would be fired. I thought he was a fraud.
So you rooted against the MEMPHIS TIGERS !!! Why are you even here ?---I think you are on the wrong team site. The fraud followed Pastner .
We went from having the hardest working coach in the country---to the laziest . We went from having a coach that would get sick after a loss--to a coach that told us basically to get used to losing. yeah Josh was the fraud.

Pastner ? Is that the coach that took us to our last 4 trnys---and has beaten Kentucky/North Carolina/Wk Forest/Nebraska this year----does anyone actually think we would beat any of them ?
Nebraska is 4-7
UNC 6-4
Wake 3-1 (wins over Deleware St., Longwood, and Catawaba)
Kentucky 2-6
Decent name wins but none appear that good this season...
Serious question, would be beat Georgia Tech this season based on what we have seen to date?
KenPom says we would be favored by ~1 pt on a neutral court.
Sagarin says pick 'em
NET doesn't list raw score, best I can find, but has us a full 13 spots ahead of Ga Tech.
So, we could/should. But winning is hard and things are fluid.
I guess that answers that.
