Temple, Cincy moving back towards respectability. If Tulane can get itself in the top 150 this will be one of the best overall years for the conference even with the top teams being down some. Good sign for the future as I don't see anyone taking steps backwards the next year or two. If our top teams get rolling and instead of being in those 60ish range get top 40 the conference will produce a lot of bids over those next couple seasons. We should honestly be even better than what we are this year, hopefully some strong runs to the conference tourney will get us closer to where we should be.

2021 NET Rankings - Updated 1/15
A proper team manicurist could add at least 10 points to Temple’s NET score.

Would that help in the foul shooting?

Not sure what you're referring to, but Temple's #2 player last season (NPL) had a very severely scratched cornea, which occurred during practice about a year ago. Temple went on to lose a long string of games after that injury occurred.

Scratched cornea does suggest untrimmed nails.

There's another issue, which is that PF Forrester mentioned in a recent interview that the guy he was practicing against in scrimmage was playing extremely physically against him. It wasn't expressed exactly as a complaint, but it did seem like a definite cause for concern.

The player in question hasn't gotten much playing time this season. He got into a lot of foul trouble last season and this, and also had injury problems. Both his PFs and his aggravated injuries have limited his playing time.

Temple's coaching staff has to check players' nails to prevent future eye injuries, and has to do a better job of limiting PFs and curbing excessively aggressive physical play, to prevent injuries during practice. This has been a problem for the team, which has had an unusually large number of players out of action due to practice injuries. The only way to cut down on PFs and limit physical play is to run refereed scrimmages and to blow the whistle and call fouls. Hopefully, Coach McKie will be doing so, going forward.

This is ridiculous.

Having a complete disregard for the well-being of the student-athletes and showing no interest in injury prevention is ridiculous. These are not robots. They're human beings, and too many of them end their college careers with injuries that cause disabilities during middle or later adulthood.

Preventing injuries is an extremely important matter. That one injury to NPL's eye last season, all by itself was absolutely devastating to the team.

The failure to take prudent steps to prevent injuries can prevent a Head Coach and a team from achieving success over the long term.

We now know that letting the interior players go at each other "hammer and tongs" in practice had adverse effects for both players, and for the team this season. For one, the result was a failure to play more than 10 minutes without getting into serious foul trouble. it resulted in practically no playing time through 6 games.

Updated 1/21 - Tulsa falls out of Q1/Q2 quadrants but UCF sneaks in for now. WSU has dropped 9 spots since they last played due to other teams/opponents play.

So who takes the bullet to raise Tulane? Maybe Temple can sneak a win over some Big5 people and drop one to Tulane. Cheers all around.

If we actually have a March Madness this year, here's hoping Houston gets a #1 or #2 seed and makes a deep run. The sagging fortunes of AAC basketball right now need a bell cow to shine a spotlight on the American. Go Cougars.

This site lists the American as #2 in RPI: Strange, but true.

Penn isn't playing, and St. Joe's and La Salle are a disaster. Despite their record and ranking, this is the weakest Nova team in a couple years, although we're probably a bit too young and inexperienced to beat them unless it's at the end of the season.
