Monday Musings
We might play some basketball this week, we might not. We seem to have been hit hard by the corona.
What is the MAC's tournament policy this year? top 8 make it? I forgot.
Is 8 million dollars enough to buy Washtenaw golf club? Course probably would not be long enough for NCAA competition. They better not buy green oaks I need my cheap local.
Football coaching carousel may spin hard in this area if Harabaugh and Fitzgerald and maybe even Meyer or Matt Campbell go to NFL.
Spring ball is going to be interesting for everyone. Baseball more interesting.

I believe the MAC tourney is supposed to be the top 8. Haven't heard of any change.

Top 8 puts another marker for coaches: Have to make the tourney or else the heat is turned up one more notch.

Yes NIU fired their coach. I have to imagine torches are on sale again at ACE

There would zero reason to buy Washtenaw golf club as it is shorter than Eagle Crest. U-M may brag that they have two great courses but Eagle Crest is superior in design to both and NONE of them host NCAA matches. The M courses benefit from two things: (1)the exclusivity of play not only promotes the idea of a superior value but also decreases rounds and the subsequent wear and tear of such (2) Surprise but U-M has a much larger golf budget than the Crest. Radrick and the Blue course each have more than double the amount of full time employees than the Crest with probably 1/4 of the play. It might be interesting to see what happens next year however. The biggest revenue source for Michigan golf has been parking for football games at the Blue course, that clearly did not happen in 2020.

Actually Fan, Ypsilanti Township presents a compelling value to golfers. The Crest is splendid but pricey. Green Oaks is plain jane but because it is built on sand, it drains well and during wet weather, it is often the only course to allow power-carts. A nice mix for sure.

Hey I saw on the news that Powell's Pub had their liquor license suspended. Tony is posting on Facebook like everything is as normal. Let me know what is truly going on if possible.

BTW, I like happy thoughts:

The only good news about the pandemic is that masks, etc seems to really reduced the impact of the flu season so far (and we are what 6 or 8 weeks in).

RE: Monday Musings
I'm just tossing this 'transfer post' here as it does not pertain to EMU or the MAC. It is Jackson State.

We've all got 'addicted' to those stars and ratings (e.g., 85.68, 83.42, etc.) Anyway here is JSU's transfer class with stars and ratings. INCREIDIBLE.

If a MAC team got those transfers we'd be going bonkers. Fleck recruited well, but not this well.

One of the tough thing for these players at their old schools. They may have a rating of say 87.04 but they are competing for PT with players who may have higher ratings. A (high) 3-star player competing with 4 star players.

Just a crazy FB sidenote:

Two NFL starting QBs today (Josh Allen and Taylor Heinecke) played against EMU.

I was at the EMU @ ODU game (2014) and we played Josh Allen a few times.

Josh came to Ypsilanti in 2016. Wyoming had the lead late in the game, Roback came off Creighton's naughty list and won it in relief. It was obvious that Josh Allen was special, besides being huge and athletic, he had a cannon for a right arm.

That game was transformational for that season. The 2016 team would probably get killed by any EMU team thereafter, yet they won ALL of their close games and while getting their ass kicked in losses, they did get 7 wins. I suspect that beating Wyoming in 2016 was Chris Creighton's biggest win at EMU.

I agree. I flew in for that one!

Anyone not believe transfers are getting to be an epidemic.

Need to scroll down the article. Think I counted 11 scholarship players plus a handful of walk-ons
