Butch is the new HC at Arkansas State.

I can certainly see mutual interest in returning to Alabama as OC. It would be a pay increase and of course would be a move to a semi-retired mode in a much warmer climate.

Not sure what Boise State is doing, but I suppose that could be a match too, since Mac has roots in that region of the country.

As for a potential CMU replacement. Well, you know, former Texas HC Tom Herman is available now! Tell me again who CMU's new AD is? Having said that, I would expect Charlie Frye to be the guy!

FIRE UP CHIPS! :)

thats right ark state thanks, harmon hmmm, i think would be another Mac situation, looking to get outta dodge immediately. I realize we are never going to have a herb but ideally would like more than 2 years out of next coach.

I hope Mac decides to stay another year. If for no other reason than given the financial straits CMU is in, I doubt they will be able to put up the kind of money for a proven, successful head coach from another program. They probably don't even have the budget to launch a decent search. Does anyone know what his buyout is at this point?

I suspect that the university may actually take some money off the table from what Mac makes currently which would hardly be a draw for established coaches. I'm sure there are up and comers out there but CMU doesn't have a great record with finding them.
