RE: Thank Mick for this mess
Lots of threads this could go in but what the heck. Interesting to watch how former Bearcats who were at the end of the bench are doing at smaller schools. Sometimes a change of scenery is good for all involved.
Logan Johnson scored 26 points yesterday against Santa Clara and is averaging 11 points and 4 rebounds for St. Mary.
Nsoseme is averaging about 14 points and 11 rebounds a game for Georgia State in just 23 minutes a game. I watched a bit of him a week ago and he looked like he was crushing buildings like in that old video game Rampage.
Prince is averaging 7 points and 6 rebounds in only 14 minutes a game for Georgia Southern. Shooting over 60% from the floor.
Trevor Moore scored 17 points yesterday for Morgan State. He went 3-8 from 3 yesterday. He’s averaging 11 points a game.

RE: Thank Mick for this mess
For anyone who missed it...John Brannen’s show last night had some interesting questions from fans. Natives might be getting restless. Which one of you blokes called to ask how he was adjusting to coaching real big time college basketball? ?
Not sure if this link will work but it’s on I Heart...just search John Brannen Show

With ECU now postponed, this really hurts any chance to build some confidence at home. I still think Brannen deserves to be fired after this season. Still believe it might happen too.

Some fans on talk radio can get as restless as they want but barring a legal, moral, or ethical breach, Brannen will be back next year.
UC, after hosting "fanless" football and basketball this year, is in no position financially to buy out an existing contract and then go into the marketplace for an even more costly option. An option for someone who may or may not be successful. That is unless Charles Koch suddenly decides to switch his allegiance and giving from Wichita to Cincy.

He already did. We got a business college out if it and we let his soccer team play at Nippert.

He is safe.
It’s fanless basketball next year that would get him fired. How would you like to be those folks calling to get people to renew for next season to watch this stellar product? Might be like selling VCRs door to door.

Maybe it's time I got lower bowl season tickets. You couldn't sniff those things a few years back.

Holding onto my 5th row corner upper deck seats as long as possible. My seats are a steal.

Safe for this year and maybe next. Call it a "Covid pass," or maybe a "Fickell pass." The fanbase is feeling so good about FB right now that it gives BB some breathing room.
The wild card is if key players, the core recruits Harvey, Eason, Davenport and the better Madsen, lose confidence and bolt. Things will get a lot uglier, fast.

You’ll know about Eason’s plans by following his mom’s views on the world on Twitter. Watch her feed during a UC game. She’s a hoot. Would fit nicely into one of our game threads.

Has she turned on Brannen (yet)?

Not openly but she drops lots of F bombs about how we do things wrong.

RE: Thank Mick for this mess
Interesting tidbits from that show after they stopped taking calls that were a little cringey and started having Dan and Terry just ask questions:
Brannen said he doesn’t want to play at this fast of a tempo. Wants to be around 150 in tempo. Not top 100.. we are playing fast since we have to just to have a chance.
Verified that we are going to be looking at transfers in recruiting.
Said we have personnel to run his system if they grow into it.
Said we have no alpha male in huddle during timeouts.
Lots of stuff we suspected.
My Brutally Honest Fan Valor Award of the show goes to Dave in Greenhills who really didn’t get an answer to: How does it make you feel to watch your players literally get out of the way of opponents going to the rim to posterize?

No video. Brannen was calling from his house and Dan and Terry were in studio likely cringing.
There were several questions that you could tell led to conversations during a commercial break about pulling the plug on call in questions.

Oh my lord, I just found the link...Brannen might give up on the segment altogether.

Yeah I bet this trends towards Dan asking him questions in an interview format until the season changes course.
These shows normally are full of snuggly soft rainbow unicorn softball questions. Honeymoon over.

JB's contract is structured with a 75% guarantee--- 6 years at $9M, so the difference between $6.75M and whatever he has made on the date of termination. Right now, we are at $3M at the end of this season so if UC lets him go $3.75M would have to be eaten. I think they give him one more year to turn it around, which would put the balance owed to $2.25M (especially if ticket sales are in the crapper).
Of course, if one of the fat wallet guys decides he's had enough things could be expedited.
