Eh. I've never thought effort under Monty was an issue. His teams always played hard.

Again, the big difference tonight was they made 10 3 pointers. And 9 of them came from two guys they've gotten virtually nothing from up until tonight.

It also helps that Ohio didn't have much of an inside presence so a guy like Crump actually had some space to score.

But, nonetheless, Hankerson got his 12 and Beane got his 16 which is basically right in line with what they've done all season. It's just they got production from two guys having career nights (especially Kueth) and those two guys typically give them a combined 4 points.

They still turned the ball over too much and Hankerson was, once again, in foul trouble before the 4th quarter of the game even started.

I really didn’t mean to imply in my comment that our “effort” tonight was a reference to trying hard. I fully agree that Monty’s teams played hard. Possibly I should have said that we just flat played better.

Hearing Donald Whiteside is interested. Not sure what he’s up to now. There was a previous comment about Monty being the longest tenured coach. Wouldn’t that have been Chick Evans?

Gotcha. Okay. We're on the same page then. And I do agree. From a spectator standpoint, this was the best game to watch so far. Even better than the one game they won, imo.

Going by his Linkedin, he's been a campus cop at at college in Texas for the last seven years. I'm not sure hiring him as head coach is a solid move.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring - have degrees in ECON/Stats...being doing that for 13 years since graduating.

Why not? I'll take $300k/yr to win zero games.

I always thought that he and Andrew Zimmern were the same person.

Here's a name: Armon Gates

Played ball at Kent State. Currently an Assistant at Nebraska. Was an assistant for Northwestern for 5 years, Loyola for 2, TCU for 1, and Kent State for 2.

Seasoned, youthful energy, played high school ball in the south suburbs (Hillcrest) and college ball in the MAC.

Haha Just one of the few NIU fans that prefer hoops to football. And I love coaching searches.

In parenthesis are those teams current conference records Fort Wayne 2x (1-5), YSU 2x (2-4), and IUPUI 2x (0-6). I wouldn't be making any calls to Gates yet. He has 4 games upcoming Wright State and Northern KY. If he goes 3-1 during those games then I'll start to be a believer.

CSU just swept NKU to move to 8-0.
