Herman will do a couple of years in the Booth.

In two or three years? Yeah, I could see Herman rejoining UH to see if he can get his mojo back.

If not Houston, then there will be no shortage of other Texas schools looking to rebuild their programs.

I dont know if Herman is a guy who could ever be content with having success and a crap load of money at a place like Houston---but if anything is going to convince him to think that way---his time at UT would be it. I just dont think its in his nature. Too big an ego.

Houston?... NO

Maybe Temple or Boise State

If Herman came to Temple he’d be gone in 2 years max, probably one year. No thanks.

I'll take 2 years of Herman over 2 years of Rod Carey any day of the week

I would not be surprised if Boise comes calling.

I thought Frittata had enough walking around money to buyout Dana if he wanted to.

Fertitta's fortune is based on the restaurant business. Business hasn't been so good recently.

Well--it gets more interesting. Jeramiah Dickey was just hired as Boise's new AD. Jeramiah Dickey was part of the Houston AD's office back in 2014 when they were running the coaching search that landed Herman. Then he worked with him for 2 years. They know each other.

Potentially even more interesting....UH and Boise scheduled to play in 2024 and 2025

Herman's schtick wouldn't work at Houston a this point. Kissing players and telling them he's here for them and would never leave. That ship has sailed as an effective gimmick in Houston for Herman.

I dont know why not. 2016 was 4 years ago. Will there even be anyone left of consequence from those 2015-2016 teams next year? I mean it doesnt really matter---we are riding with Dana for at least two more years. Like a bad Netflix series, we are committed to watching every episode for at least 2 more seasons. I hear we will find out in Season 3 if Dana really cares anymore or if he is just collecting paychecks until he gets run. If Season Three sucks---we'll be stuck "hate watching" the last season. 04-cheers

RE: Tom Herman out at Texas- would he go back to houston ?
Why would Herman ever go back to Houston? He just got a $15M severance check. He can go to the beach, go to TV, whatever...and maybe Texas has a buy-down clause in his contract where if he takes another job, they owe him that much less.

Herman's only incentive is to rebuild his rep somewhere to get back on the big horse again. Not sure he even does that any time soon, and if he does, it won't be at Houston.

The same reason he tried to jump ship from Texas to a lower South Carolina job last year, likely giving up millions
It was only 2-3 years ago people were saying he could be one of the all time great coaches ever.. like his mentor urban Meyer
To think he’d accept being a has been as his legacy 2 years later just because money is not knowing him at all.

If we wanted him we could get him...
It is us who has to decide if we want him or not

There is doubt if he can replicate his success again (similar to sumlin) and heavy trust issues on our end, as he told us 1thing and secretly did another when we left

That's true but the coaching carousal was working at Temple for a while keeping Temple on top of the conference. It did catch up with this last coaching change though along with the Covid-19 pandemic. Manny Diaz didn't help either with his 2 week stay. But no one saw Reich stepping down suddenly like he did at Miami. 07-coffee3

Thats me. Id take him back in an instant. But we arent eating 8 or 9 million to opt out of 3 more long years of Dana. I think Dana will be here for at least 2 more years. So---lets just hope Dana starts giving a crap cuz I have a sneaking suspicion Dana's heart just isnt 100% committed to doing the work required to get to 9-12 win seasons anymore.

Sounds like he just wants a steady job instead of the energy needed to build a successful career. Never understood the move on his part for the way he left WV or the fact that Houston would want him, unless he was just one step away from being fired at WV. If that were the case I would have hung around for the buyout money like other head coaches. Getting fired at the P5 level in college football is pretty lucrative these days. 07-coffee3

Irrelevant question. Houston already has a top shelf coach who will lead them to the promised land.
