Hermann won a title as OC at Ohio St.
Not as dominant as this team was. Also that was predicated on 1 guy- Zeke Elliott. Team scored 48+ points in 7/15 games- 5/13 vs P5 competition.. Alabama in 8/13 games with a much tougher schedule.
But it was down to its 3rd string QB.
Well one thing is for sure, don't have to worry about QB power right and getting frustrated with the RB/WR rotations. Oh and having the slowest TE on the team out there on obvious passing situations.
Playcalling will be 50 times better than the braintrust of Herman/Beck.. Can't put Yurcich on there because the playcalling was just like the previous 3 seasons before he arrived.

Congrats to Sark on a big win. It's not easy at all to win at Bama. Of course now the real test in 2023 is surpassing Kirby Smart, or for that matter, all the coaches in the Big 12 Sark has yet to beat.

Imagine if Herman had stuck with Houston. He would be coaching a P4 program and would have had an empire at Houston by now. I'm all for ambition but how many times have we seen this now? Freeze, Frost, Herman, Peterson.....
It seems like assistants the big name coaches end up doing a lot better then head coaches who just are a good fit for those specific programs.

Though the interesting part here is the Dabo claim. He’s in a more precarious situation than I thought he would be.

I don't think Frost would have kept UCF going at the pace he did. I think he caught lightning in a bottle.

Did he need to though?
I mean without him you guys have still been averaging 9 or more wins a season and that's pretty damn good. As long as he was winning eight games a season at UCF he would have remained a big name coach.
There was never any chance that he was actually going to be successful at Nebraska. That program is never going to reclaim the glory that it once had. Even before announced that we were joining the conference there were several programs that had access to significantly better talent than Nebraska. And now they're looking at USC, UCLA, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan... Even in a good year in Nebraska will probably be the six best Big 10 team.

After their loss to Rice yesterday, maybe Houston should re-hire Herman.

Skip Holts, Charlie Strong, Jimbo, Randy Edsall, Dan Hawkins, Rich Rod...

Meh. It's one game. The Big 12 might be as tough as the SEC this year, he has a lot more football to play. The only thing he accomplished in year 2 was to look like a good win for teams like Alabama.

Dabo's not in any kind of situation. He could go 6-6 every year for a decade and he'd still be a top 5 coach in CFB. 10 years of extraordinary success, including 2-2 in the CFP against the strongest Dynasty in CFB history, gives you a lifetime of "yeah, but back in the day he was GREAT" comments.
Sarkisian is a very good coach, but until he wins at least 2 titles, he doesn't deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as Dabo. And Saban? I mean, you guys know I hate him with a passion, but he's the best of all time. Sarkisian isn't worthy to clean Saban's boots before the press conference discussing this game.

Jimbo won a title as a HC at least, and has had several other top 10 seasons at 2 different schools. I may or may not have uttered a few expletives around his name over the past few years, but he has achieved far more success than any of those others on that list.

Texas wins one game and now they're a top 3 team?
Why don't we wait and see if Alabama is even any good this season. It's possible that they're not, you know.

So true. Some HC are just a better fit at a University that might not be a Big Name or a top tier but they just can't see it until they flame out at the higher expectation gig.

After watching all the unprepared miscues against Miami, I would say either he is poor at hiring Assistants or has enough money and just doesn't care if his players are ready. That Miami loss should be pinned to his tail like a donkey. It was clearly on him. He has been an utter failure at A&M to this point and that includes some pretty embarrassing losses at home.

Exactly…. This win might not look the same in December as it does now.
