Very interesting comments from a very interesting guy. Hey....at least Franklin was very kind and complimentary in his final comments about MTSU and their players.
I feel very fortunate that LA Tech seems to have had the services of Tony Franklin when he was at the
very top of his game. I've been a football fan for over 50 years, and I've never seen a better OC than Franklin. That's quite a statement coming from me. But Franklin not only had outstanding offenses at LA Tech, he instilled an offensive
confidence in our players like I've never seen before or since. Our players KNEW they could score
anytime on
anybody, from
anywhere on the field, as long as they executed. And they did. In 2012, LA Tech led the nation in total offense with Tony Franklin as our OC and Sonny Dykes as our head coach.
On Franklin's and Dykes' watch, LA Tech won a WAC football championship in 2011 and had an amazing#23 national ranking and a 9-3 season in 2012. This relationship with Franklin culminated with LA Tech losing to #22 ranked TX A&M and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny "Football" Manzel, 59-57, in perhaps the greatest football game I've ever seen. I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say, our LA Tech boys were "in the zone", and Franklin had a lot to do with that.

So Tony Franklin is just further proof that every Dawg has his day. So, I don't doubt that he's no longer as good as he used to be. Nobody can stay on top forever.
So, to Tony Franklin, I say "thank you", for your service at LA Tech. You gave me and many LA Tech fans great memories that will last the rest of our lives.
