Well time to rip the band aid off after yesterday.

This game may be the “canary in the coal mine” for the remainder of the season. If it goes well, there is hope. If it goes poorly after 11 days off, last one out turn off the lights.

It’s Tulsa on our home floor and we seem to be their kryptonite so I’m expecting to get back into the win column after a 4 game losing streak.

Interested to see how we utilized the 11 days especially with Brannen’s silly Rap experiment over. Hoping to see energy and focus for 40 minutes.

Team has a lot of issues I've laid out in posts so far but if their guards could just start hitting an average percentage from 3 (instead of abysmal) and they can stop giving other teams a parade to the the foul line they'd look drastically different overnight.

We've only really been blown out once.

If we put 40 minutes in, we could be OK.

Rap may end up being addition by subtraction. Give his minutes to somebody who'll produce.

Rap was dynamite for Colgate against us last year. I am surprised and disappointed he did not work out.

Just a bad fit. He could have worked here if the five was super athletic or very skilled on the defensive end. Kyle Washington was better then Rap but playing next to Gary Clark helped him a ton.

I just don’t see why the staff targeted him knowing Vogt was the center.

Anyway I expect the Cats to win today and start a nice little mini run. I want to be optimistic so let’s do this thing today and get back to Bearcat basketball.

He was kind of a square peg in a round hole, that we needed because we had no upper class big men on the roster other than Vogt/Dou. Brannen was forced to try what he could. I thought Rap was pressing a lot because he wanted desperately to play the 4 and wanted to start. To do that UC had to be able to play Vogt and Rap together for long periods of time. That quickly proved impossible. Even if Eason could stay on the floor more and not pick up fouls it would have helped but ultimately I think the fit never worked. Without an athletic 5 that can cover a lot of ground, it's hard to play rap at the 4 at this level.

Basically the complete opposite of Vogt.

Let's play a little prop game today:

Vogt positive plays today vs. Metz negative plays yesterday

Who wins?

Regarding bigs, problem is, sans Tari, Brannen has been shooting blanks on the recruiting trail. Definitely need a 6-9ish rim protector going into next year, especially with CV on his way out.

I guess we'll see how the Russian works out. I am not too familiar there.

We had Vogt covering him a lot of that game all over the floor. Worked about as well as one would expect.

I’ll just take a rebound or two in the 1st half from him at this point. Tulsa is not big so we will see.

Speaking of which...look at games last year and look at how much different Vogt looks. He got big in the weight room with Rehfeldt in the Monster Factory. He appears to have lost a lot of that.

Nice move by Vogt and he actually showed rare patience in getting to his spot.

Good for him but it’s really depressing that Davenport is the only Bearcat with a confident jumpshot
