I believe you are correct, but it was 1st and 2nd down before we picked up our first first down of the drive. Even the announcers commented on Ridder snapping it too early.

Well if he doesn't snap it early Metz will false start, so what's the big deal???

Lol, that’s what I posted right before you as well.

I’m anxious to see if Hudson returns next year. With Harper possibly also leaving (unless he utilizes his extra Covid year) I’m nervous about the Tackle situation. Hopefully some of the young guys are ready to step in.

What exactly is the tackle situation? It looks like metz then nobody.. I don't want to pile it on metz but bruno could've done just as good and he's not even on the OL

We have a lot of unproven but highly regarded tackles, Johnathan Allen was a 3/4* guy from Dunbar who actually needed to CUT weight to get to playing shape, Kobe McAllister was named Offensive Lineman of the Year for his division in the state of Georgia last year, and Luke Collinsworth is coming in as the 3rd highest rated commit in this year's class. All have the bodies necessary already, just need things to mesh mentally to be players for us. Add to that the fact that both John Williams (who was slated as the 2nd string RG) and Colin Woodside along with our current starting RG Vince McConnell came in as Tackles and were converted to guards, and there are enough people who could go in and be serviceable...but we will need more than that if we lose both bookends.

Thanks for that, really informative post. It just surprised me that they couldn't find anyone who could do a better job than metz did tonight

Right now, Metz is probably the best of those still in there, but once they figure out who all will be back, it will likely allow them to move people around to ensure they have the best 5 guys out there. They couldn't expect a guy to go out there and bump out to tackle on the fly against arguably the best defense in the country, so they went with the guy they had. Thats a really tough situation to be in, because you don't have a plan...if Hudson was limited in practice and had to go out due to an injury, they would've been more prepared probably, but trying to completely switch a gameplan on the fly is a rough situation to be in, spoken from experience.

Never going to happen. He has no feel for blocking in the passing game...puts his head down and points the crown of his helmet towards his man like a 5th grader and lunges.

The snap count thing is brain not physical skill.

How do you say “transfer portal” auf Deutsch?

In last years game against UCF he went for 4th&1 on his side of the 50 with less than 2 minutes to go, and won the game. In his 2nd year, he went for it on 4th down multiple times at UCLA, and did it on 4th down at the goal line to seal the win.

He coaches on being aggressive and he coaches that way. I don't have a problem with it. Win or lose, he shown that the bearcats belong in the top 10 and maybe the playoff. Maybe on 3rd and 2 Ridder had a run/pass option. Young was wide open, but the pass hung in the air giving the GA defender time to make a play.

Exactly. I actually loved the play call. Roll out Ridder and you want him running unless play is wide open for the taking. It was but he just hesitated too long and didn't zip it in there. Missed execution really, not bad play call. Go for the throat. And, if you don't make it you punt and count on the D the best part of your team. Just didn't work out.

No I meant that we believe there has to be someone better on the roster, not that a guy who has not progressed AT ALL in two years will suddenly get far better. I don't think Metz should be anything more than a swing tackle, man in the middle of FG block or mop-up guy. I'd actually love to see them just completely flip it and see what he can do on defense, because his offensive abilities are...offensively bad.

It wasn’t smart.

Run the ball...pick it up game over...get stopped they get the ball deep with less than a minute with no timeouts. Trust your D. The passing game sucked the entire 2nd half.

People thought we made the smart play going for it on 4th against Tulsa. We make some really bad decisions. Some of them don’t hurt. Today’s did.

Any chance he could slim down and play a similar role as bruno at TE? I'm just spitballing here because the guy can obviously run block. Maybe put him at fullback lol

God no...he false starts too much in pass block, if you put him out there as a TE and tell him he needs to work on his get off for routes he'll be 5 yards downfield before the formation is even set.

Lol ok fair point. Fg block specialist it is then. Who knows maybe in 2 years he'll finally be at the level he needs to be

Just can't believe we lost that game. Took a lot of things going wrong for that to happen after being up 11 points. Hard to believe Hudson being ejected for targeting being at the top of that list. We proved we could play with the big boys but missed a chance to display a NY6 trophy in Lindner for generations to see. This one hurts so bad....

It just sucks so much because we've had three chances at this and we were in perfect position to do it but couldn't finish the job. Only 10 non-P5 teams have made an access bowl since the BCS started...there's no telling if we will ever have a nother shot like that.

I actually thought the 3rd and two play was a run all the way. I'll have to look at the replay on the dvr but I remember Rid flushing out to his right with some blockers and it sure seemed to me he would've got it close. The point still stands you want to keep running clock in that situation and Fick could've still opted to go for it on 4th if it was close or try to draw dee offsides. Again, criticism is fair, player or coach when warranted.

Then again, I may not want to watch the replay because then that image will repeat in my brain in slow motion for days LOL.

Like the Bengals and the Super Bowl. You only get a select few chances. When you don’t make the best of them the backslide can be inevitable.

I recorded it also. Took the route of just deleting it. It will not change the out come. We still lose.
