Is the AAC still the #1 non-contract-bowl conference for CFP $?
nitial returns say yes, yes we are.
All reporting indicates that the performance distribution of CFP $ for the five conferences without contracts with CFP NY6 bowls is determined by a compilation of the former BCS computer systems.
Wolfe has not reported all year. The final results for Anderson& Hester, Billingsley, Colley, Massey, and Sagarin are in.
The average conference average ranking for those five rating systems for 2020 season are:
AAC - 69.35
SBC - 75.04
mwc - 78.52
MAC - 79.54
CUSA - 97.05
Massey Composite has only compiled 48 rankings so far. Most years that ends up over 100. In 2020, it has topped out around 60. Still premature, but I'll add them here.
AAC - 69.21
SBC - 72.44
MAC - 73.98
mwc - 76.46
CUSA - 94.37
#5 ACC is 59.75
#1 B12 is 44.09
So far, not the typical "closer to #5 than to #7". But still closer to #1 than to #10. In the outlier year of 2018 -- outlier bad for the AAC and outlier good for the mwc -- AAC at #7 was closer to #6 mwc than 2020 #7 SBC is to #6 AAC (in an outlier good year for the SBC)
Payouts may be diminished this year, but in a normal year that would be about $26 million for the AAC and $18.5M for the SunBelt and $17M for the mwc.
