Coastal is going to come back to earth next year. Plus they come off the schedule for 2 years. So we won’t see them again with the same coaching staffs.

I'm almost with Saint, but with some variance:


1. GS
2. Troy - Just love to beat those guys
3. UL - Growing and excited about it
4. CCU - mainly for the fan engagement. CCU has always drawn well at KBS
5. GaSt
6. stAte - Would have been top 3 but the conference decided to stop scheduling us for a bit
7. South
8. ULM
9. TxSt

1. ULaLa because of longevity, monitor throws and baseball games.
2. Troy because it’s in state, but still building.
3. GaSt because our football programs are the same age, I didn’t expect them to make it, yet here they are.
4. GaSo because we still haven’t beat them on the football field.
5-9 the rest of y’all.
10-11 don’t play football.

Texas State and ULM are higher on my list than most people in the league will have them because we have losses to both teams that still leave a bad taste in my mouth, and we just have struggled against both of them (especially on the road) for some reason.

No offense to Troy, they're probably my top must-have conference mate in any reorganization of G5 teams besides App and Georgia State, it's just not a team that's high on the rivalry list.

1) ULL-Games are usually close and meaningful
2) Troy-Games have been chippy at times, and both have won several championships with big wins against the other
3) App- They have been better than us lately, but a lot of that is because we have been poorly coached
4) ULM- We have play them a lot, and they are the closest geographically, but they haven't won in awhile. (I still point out to Hog fans that they have beaten UA since they have beaten A-State)
5) South Alabama- They beat us even when they shouldn't
6) Texas State- within the division, only reason
7) Georgia Southern- Their fans
8) Georgia State- It is usually close because, see #3 again.
9) Coastal- Too far to be a rival. This will move up fast if they repeat 2020 a couple of times.

2. Gast-in state in conference lots of saltiness on both sides (it’s so dumb to me that some of our fans always say “they aren’t our rival” just idiotic)
3. CCU-their coach got passed over for our job a few years ago and seems super salty about it resulting in their whole team taking on his salty/douchiness
4. ULL- tight game this year, quality program. I don’t even know it’s a rivalry, I just look forward to the game

Don’t really care about anyone else in particular. That’s not a knock, all conference games are important and not to be taken lightly, and I’m impressed with the overall strength of our conference since us and App joined, just no one else really jump out to me. Conference road games especially always have the potential to be very tough.

USA/GSU is not a rivalry. Read it on the Internet.

(Little known fact is that we have played each other since the club football days 20 years ago)

#2 is so true. Most who deny it are very young and don't realize the in state saltiness predates most of us.

From there it gets tricky. I think we're developing a rivalry with South, but I'm not sure its one our fans will embrace. Our fanbase would probably prefer listing Southern in the top 3, but I'm not sure players see it as the same.

UL is the Must Win game on our schedule every year. Winning that game can cure a lot of ills for a head coach.

The good news is that is about to be rectified. I think we play 4 or 5 straight years now. Next time we can miss you guys is 2024...

This is a hard one for a TXST fan... I could definitely come up with a ranking of fanbases I like the least though lol

Honestly think we are too new to have any rivals in the SBC. Would love to develop some at some point. We need to have any form of sustained success before anyone takes us seriously as a rival.

I don’t even think next year will tell us much. Going to be a couple years down the road.

I think the Sun Belt is a phenomenal conference and just hope we can stay competitive.

And vice versa. Sorry Ga State, I don't consider you a rival. I'm old school, so right now it feels manufactured. Probably was, since it was instigated by an AD who then hired a coach that couldn't beat a flimsy pinata.
