Offerpad Arizona Bowl: #22 San Jose State vs Ball State
Clash of Champions!

MW Champ #22 San Jose State takes on MAC Champ Ball State!

I am looking forward to this! Two champions, probably not much in the way of opt-outs. Expect a bare-knuckled brawl, like Liberty vs Coastal.

I have no idea who to pick. The bettors say SJSU is the favorite and they are much closer to home. But Ball State beat the better opponent in their CCGs.

Also, this game is on CBS, one of the rare non-Disney bowl broadcasts.

They said SJSU was missing key players. But this has been a total cruise-control rout.

Congratulations Ball State, Arizona Bowl Champs!

Ball State traveled a long way in to MW territory to put a licking on SJST.

There were 12 unbeatens late in the season, with 2 indies and every conference but the Big 12. Then Colorado lost to Utah and Liberty lost on a blocked kick to NCSU. Marshall got shut out by Rice. BYU fell in a battle of unbeatens to Coastal Carolina. Down to 8.

USC, Notre Dame and Buffalo fell in conference championship games. Down to 5.

Now in the bowls San Jose lost to Buffalo's conqueror and Coastal Carolina lost to the team they were scheduled to play the week they played BYU. Down to just Alabama, Ohio St. and Cincinnati.

So unless Notre Dame wins the national title, someone will finish unbeaten.

Cool.

They said SJSU was missing key players. But this has been a total cruise-control rout.

SJSU was missing several starters, including 2 offensive linemen, and also both their OC and DC.

All of you guys who gave Florida a free pass have to give one to SJSU as well.

Ball State's RB (3rd team All-MAC) and some others opted out or missed as well. It's different than losing your coaches, but almost every program had losses going into bowl season.

We'd have to look at opt-outs for both teams. If SJSU had a lot more, than that would be an explanation.

Between transfers and opt-outs, teams are commonly missing a quarter of their starters now. Bowls are basically spring games now.

No one is giving Florida a pass. If you take the field there are no excuses. Other teams with numerous opts chose to forfeit the bowl invite.
