RE: FIU weekend
Welcome to the dark side of actually having expectations
This is who Jeff Jones really is without the stith brothers and Trey freeman to make him look like a much better coach than he actually was/is.
This is the new normal and you only have yourselves to blame.

So it’s my fault? Sorry guys, I’ll fix it right now.

RE: FIU weekend
The state of this program is the fault of multiple people but I lay the majority of the blame at our apathetic fanbase who found the job jones was doing acceptable.
This is the end result. At least Blaine was drunk, what’s Jeff’s excuse?

There are still a few defending Selig in the other thread.

ODU is undersized, offensively challenged, and has poor schemes at both ends of the floor. Pretty much all of the same problems they had last season.
Next season they should be great though ...... right?

I think you meant 5 - 20 (25%) from 3. Here are the stats from the game -

Not to belabor this game after game but for a 5th year senior leader who is supposed to be all conference level, X is just not close right now. He’s shooting 25% from the field for the season!

RE: FIU weekend
During last night’s postgame radio interview, Coach Jones gave one of the saddest explanations for our team’s play that I’ve ever heard: that this group doesn’t sufficiently listen. When pressed for an explanation, he said that this year’s players don’t know how to win. That they’ve never learned what it means to step up when the game is on the line.
If that is so, how is that not 100% the job of the head coach? That we are now starting conference play, and the team is not mentally prepared for it, is discouraging to say the least.
So how does this team, which I believe has the necessary talent, pull out of its nosedive? We had our w.t.f. moment with VCU. That shouldn’t still be happening with FIU. And it is likely that today will be no different. I’ll listen again this afternoon, but I’m really not expecting to enjoy it.
Is there an assistant coach who can step up and bring some competitive focus? Are we allowed to have Twardzik put down the microphone and step in mid-game - - ala “Hoosiers”? I suspect not.
But who knows? Maybe, just maybe, we’ll be surprised.

So does anyone expect us to win another game this year? Who can we beat?

Sad isn't it. Ww should be asking who con't we beat. This team has had enough of JJ. Nobody has confident in their shot and have completely lost focus. Our offense is too stagnant and has been the same year after year. If he feels that way that this team doesn't listen and they don't know how to win that is on him. Maybe he should give up the leash and let them play and see what happens. This is obviously not working.

RE: FIU weekend
If JJ is the coach next year I won't buy tickets, won't bring friends to the games, won't try and convince neighbors to attend and won't give a dime to ODAF, points and all that crap be damned. We have played 7 games this year, 3 have been complete embarrassments. Enough. He's had more than enough opportunities to build something.

We had 16 turnovers. I don't even bother yelling at the TV anymore.

I have watched almost every game the last 10 years but I don't plan on watching another this season unless something drastically changes. Too depressing.

RE: FIU weekend
I’ve been a hardcore fan for 30 years. JJ’s sinking of our program, combined with some personal changes in my life have almost brought me to the point of not caring. Every year it’s “wait till next year”. Well “next year” is now, and it’s not very good. Time for a new coach.

The only language WS understands is dollars. If we are unhappy it has to be exemplified in the wallet. Cut back your giving and let whoever contacts you know the reason why. Before you say it will hurt the kids, let me ask how is it helping them get better. To say the kids don’t listen tells me the coach has lost a team and his edge. JJ will not quit. He will need to fired.

Maybe, Middle Tennessee at least on a consistent edge.

Vegas is presently giving us even odds in today’s rematch. Nothing to celebrate, but notably surprising.

I know where I would put my money.
Add the CUSA Florida schools to the long list of programs that have overtaken us in JJ's tenure. (Read that again. Sobering eh?)

Not trying to be argumentative but why is what Coach Jones said on him? I think he's trying to say maybe these guys have had a "go to guy" on previous teams for instance and maybe it's time one of them take the lead. We all though X should have been that guy, but he's obviously dealing with issues that he has to work through. I am not defending Coach Jones, but to be honest I do like him although I have some issues with his recruiting. But with what we currently have on the roster I don't think unreasonable to think Kalu or X could take the helm here and lead these guys by example. Not sure that his happening right now.
