Memphis had a bizarre season due to COVID-19, and Silverfield didn't really have a signature win. Despite that, the program still seems to be on solid footing.

Three power five coaches with losing records had higher grades, one of them had more than twice as many loses as wins. The author demonstrated too much bias to be taken seriously (just like most other talking heads).

Not sure if it’s bias or just plain ignorance, but having more wins than all but 1 of the other 1st year coaches you would expect a grade higher than 12th place.

And the Tigers COVID issues were no more bizarre that anyone else. They praised FAU for navigating COVID with a 5-4 record but seemed to brush Memphis off at the same time. Also I'm going say that the UCF win was pretty big for RS. Maybe it wasn't in the eyes of the media?

The guys in the cove thought he deserved a solid B for the season. Except for Cincy, we were in every game and probably should have won the SMU game.

The majority of coaches should get a passing grade for the 2020 season simply for surviving it. CRS definitely seemed more relaxed and polished at the end of the year compared to the beginning. With recruiting & what we have coming back, we should be good for next year. Already looking forward to it.

College football relies on having a good quarterback. Pro teams can get by with an average QB as long as he doesn't make many mistakes. Not so with college. So if one guy steps up at QB we should be okay.

Significant wins
- UCF
- At Navy
- Bowl game

For our program those were all wins we desperately needed and all three had esacped us for years before Silverfield...

We had beaten navy 2 out of the last 3 years (now 3 out of last 4). But prior to that we hadn’t had success.

Ah, you’re right. Didn’t notice the “at” in the OP. Of course any win against navy is a good win considering their style.

I didn't say anything at the time, but the trueth about the 3-4 is that it is the best defense to use against what Navy runs.

The second best record in the 6th best conference in the country after Iosing 90% of our offense and working in new coaches. Not bad at all.

Meh, it’s really just an opinion piece from one guy. The grading part was probably assigned to Howard in cubicle C and a nerdy intern that doesn’t even like football.

I would love for CRS to find the next Marcus Freeman. He's done wonders for Cincy. We need a young DC with a great pedigree.

You don't have to choose, it's both.

Look, we all know schools that had decent football programs 50 years ago and lucked into a P5 conference have CLEARLY better basketball teams than the teams whose football didn’t get into the P5. It’s just common sense...

It’s actually a criteria for getting an at-large in the NCAA basketball tournament... How good did your football team used to be?
