Wake Forest has only played 2 games so far this season (both now over a month ago). They picked up a game against Catawba tomorrow night due to their originally scheduled game against Syracuse tonight being cancelled due to COVID issues with the Cuse program. They play at Georgia Tech Sunday (assuming that game goes as planned). I imagine Wake is desperate to find games considering they've lost a bunch so far. The question of course will be how can they fit into their schedule (and would they rather play someone closer to Winston-Salem as well as would JMU even be interested in traveling there, assuming that would be the deal).

Wonder how they will reschedule the two Towson games. haven't looked at the schedule, are there any open times between now and the end of the season? Or would they schedule a game during the middle of the week over say 2 weeks or so? If any additional conference games get postponed due to medical issues that would really mess up any hope of a reasonable schedule and would probably lead to conference games being cancelled.

Mid week is certainly doable. If there are multiple teams with issues they likely swap opponents. So say Northeastern and Hofstra get postponed due to Hofstra, JMU and NU would play while hofstra and Towson sit out. The league stated as much somewhere and its likely teams may play a conference opponent 3 or 4 times and play someone else 0

Towson is JMU's travel partner too so that helps

The Dukes pick up a game vs Morgan State on Jan 3. Morgan State was originally supposed to play Towson but due to a positive test at Towson the Tigers are down for 2 weeks so JMU picked up the game. Looks like their 1st four conference games will have to be rescheduled.

Gonna be an interesting season to say the least!!

Morgan state beat Delaware so should be a good test.

UNCW has a positive test, which will postpone their first 2 weekends of play, including next weekend’s scheduled JMU-UNCW matchups.

I would like to believe that is being discussed by the proverbial powers that be.

Seems like a good play. Drexel was scheduled to play at JMU he last weekend of the season Feb 27 and 28. If they don’t want to make the 2 day turnaround for traveling to JMU, then play Monday, Tuesday.

That would give both teams flexibility to reschedule any future postponements to the last weekend of the season.

It will be interesting to see which teams try hard to play CAA games and which ones find reasons why they won’t.

Elon was scheduled to play Towson next weekend- probably will just have JMU play Elon next weekend while Towson and UNCW sit out.

This looks to be certain now. JMU will play a doubleheader with Elon next weekend. Then they can play UNCW the weekend after that. Just switching the weekends should work as the 4th spoke is Towson.

Maybe JMU didn’t want to play Drexel this weekend when the opportunity was there. It doesn’t look like the Dukes are ready for CAA play yet and a couple of OOC games this week can only help whether they win, lose, or draw.

I think for JMU it made sense to stay home and play FAU and for Drexel it probably made sense go stay home as well. Traveling out of state without a few days advance notice isn’t something the JMU medical staff seems keen on.

The one good thing about the lack of fans is that games can be scheduled anytime during the day with no impact to attendance. There are plenty of games that can be day trips midweek. It is high school-ish but doable. Hop on the team bus in the morning, play a mid afternoon game, hop on the team bus and be in your own bed by 10PM.

As we see additional CAA quarantines and time gets squeezed to fit in 18 conference games, it will be interesting to see who can get it done and who can’t. The schools Like Northeastern and Charleston at the geographical extremes are at a disadvantage when it comes to last minute schedule adjustments.
