CAA MBB Play/Other Games
Towson game with Iona today canceled this morning due to Covid issues. Per the Towson message board, it is Towson, which will be their second stoppage of the season. They were scheduled to open with JMU this weekend which seems unlikely now. Expect this will be par for the course the rest of conference play.

RE: CAA MBB Play/Other Games
Agree on par for the course, and remember there aren't any students around. I also wonder how our general college community numbers will look like after break. I know I'm in the minority, but playing this season isn't necessary. Just wait to see how much of a sham the NCAA tournament will become when teams will miss 10 or more games and still want into the tournament. How about teams who are shut down for a couple of weeks at the end of the season. Is this bad, or just a way to get healthy and rested? We're seeing how it impacted football.....

I would have multiple gentleman's agreements already set up with close proximity teams (ODU, Hampton, Norfolk St, VCU, UR, GMU, plus) for filler games when mutual teams have conference game postponements. Impact of two weeks of non-play at this stage is significant.

Enlighten thinking, will it become reality?

Great idea!

The reason the NCAA Tournament will probably be pushed back until April, is to allow these type games to be arranged, in March, so that teams will be able to meet the NCAA minimum for eligibility (13 games vs. D-1 opponents).

Well that didn't take too long. Wilmington shuts down all basketball activities due to positive test.

Northeastern's dominance of Elon today, 75-52, is a statement start for them.

Northeastern gets the sweep of Elon, 66-58. Led the whole way.

Big match-up with Hofstra at Northeastern next weekend. I have a hunch we're going to find that Hofstra is not the team to beat.

Towson at Elon is already showing as postponed, unlike UNCW at Drexel. I don't see how any team that misses consecutive weekends will make up the discrepancy in March. The problems may outweigh the solutions as this season progresses. Teams and staff staying healthy will be a major factor in how teams finish. Not playing for 3 weeks mid-season is a real setback for any team.

My feeling is that the League will begin to use the open Wednesdays to make up some games, come February.

I'm curious if they do that if they would still try to make sure everyone plays all the opponents, or if they would just get in whatever games they can.

Like W&M playing a driveable team on a Wednesday might make more sense than us going up to Northeastern.

I know the Patriot League is doing imbalanced scheduling this year to reduce longer trips.

Shaquille Walter's hit three 3 pointers in OT to give Northeastern a 81-78 win at Hofstra. Northeastern trailed most of regulation.

Entertaining game. Hofstra built a big lead (reached 19 at the beginning of the second half) and Northeastern slowly chipped away to eventually force overtime. Huskies don't look incredible -- I think anybody can beat anybody on any given night in this league -- but Bill Coen teams are so solid.

I'm interested to see what Drexel looks like -- they beat a bunch of bad teams in non-con (alongside losing games to Pitt and a decent La Salle team) but haven't played since well before Christmas. At this point, they'd be my pick to win the regular season 'ship, but that could obviously change.

Also, watching the game tonight and seeing how Hofstra stacked up to another good team, I don't think W&M is gonna finish last in the conference.

So, now the Elon at JMU games that were a reshuffle for this weekend due to the Towson and UNCW Covid pauses, have, also, been postponed due to Elon having a positive test. Oy!

Delaware beat Hofstra, 74-56, with both teams only playing 7 players, and the starters on both sides getting the majority of minutes. Painter had a monster 19 rebounds and appears to have dominated Kante. Hofstra with 15 turnovers to only 5 assists. Ouch! No walk-ons.
