Sadly, I think we get screwed by being left outside the preseason rankings, but I think we do receive a lot of votes to be in the preseason Top 30, & we’ll find ourselves ranked early if we do what we need to do.

There are a couple nerve-wracking opponents, but honestly, if most of the squad returns, we have a good shot at winning any & every game. I do think we could stumble like we did against NC State, & Lane Kiffins’ fiery Offense will be hard to stop, but 10+ wins seems very do-able.

I am comfortable sayin’ 9-3 if most everyone comes back. But we’re capable of 12-0.

I like it!

UAB & Louisiana are the two G5s to worry about based on their 2020 seasons.

We'll see about Syracuse as they are a P5, but we saw how that went for them this year playing us who actually had a consistent QB & more FBS-level squad, so imagine what matchup #3 will look like!

Ole Miss is the most daunting opponent on that schedule. Lane Kiffin is by no means the greatest coach out there, but he is bringing an SEC squad with an offense that looked ready to pounce on more than one top dog in their conference. We have a shot with this squad Freeze has been loading up, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much until we actually take down a mid- to high-caliber SEC or Big Ten squad.

RE: 2021 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Think it's strange that ASOR have us losing to UAB and another school (was it Louisiana?). We have a good amount of veterans returning plus a class that is three times better than last class. I think we may add a couple more players to this class too. I felt we could've done 8-9 wins this season (only discussed it with some here privately lol). I think we can make a big statement next season Lord willing so that folks will realize that the 2020 season was not by luck. I say we get an Ole Miss upset.

RE: 2021 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Wow, we had the best season in Liberty history, the 2020 season isn't over for some teams left, and we're already looking forward to 2021? Tough crowd. Let's savor it for just a little longer.

2021 is going to be the aftershock to 2020. Many of the traditional powers had trouble in 2020 and I agree with the theory out there that the ones who took COVID-19 less seriously are the ones that had the most success in 2020. Take for example Ohio State compared to Penn State. Both were top 6 preseason ranked teams while one took an SEC team approach of preparing for a national championship run at all costs (OSU) and ended up with one cancelled game due to outbreaks on the team with probably another that should have been cancelled (instead they bragged how awesome they were by playing against Michigan State while missing so many starters and other players); the other took extreme measures towards player safety despite so many new coaches and new systems that they just weren't ready for the season to begin and it took them a month to get up to speed (Penn State started 0-5 but should have been 1-4 with the blown reviewed call against Indiana that literally lost the game and finished on a 4-game winning streak to end 4-5) and had zero positive tests and had zero missed games.

TL;DR - A school like Penn State who had an off year in 2020 will more likely outperform in 2021 as they get a full "normal" offseason rather than the abbreviated and socially distant one that was 2020. They will bounce back in an unexpectedly good way while the darlings in 2020 will bounce back to their more historical norm of under performance.

How does this effect Liberty? I think LU was more football-focused than COVID-19-focused which made them more prepared than other teams. We didn't have any (or many) opt outs so we aren't going to get a ton of help from that like others will. Syracuse was hurt by that and they should be better in 2021. Teams should have a much stronger home field advantage in 2021 as well with nearing full capacity. The positive of LU keeping the seniors for one more run I think will be a net neutral as everyone else has the same thing happen as well. Army, Louisiana-Lafayette, and UAB retaining their coaches is huge for 2021 and presents us with tough opponents along with the P5 schools.

With all that said, our last three games are tough but at least we have a bye before them and two are at home. If we are undefeated at that point or one-loss, I think the media speculation on where Freeze goes may be at a fever pitch and distract the team. Overall, I think we go 9-3 and end up in playing in the New Mexico Bowl.

Some fantasy football .com place has Malik Willis as the top returning QB for next season.

As long as Freeze returns then Willis should be near the top of the list but I would put Spencer Rattler from Oklahoma above him. King from Miami would also be high if he didn't tear his ACL in the bowl game. Clemson's QB would also be high if you consider him returning after making two starts with Lawrence sitting out for COVID-19.

RE: 2021 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
I dont know about how yall feel about it, but since the ASUN has expanded and looking to sponsor football, I would like to see Liberty reserve their FCS spot on their schedule to ASUN schools. Your gonna pay for those games anyway, may as well keep the money in the conference. May help build rivals in other sports as well.

It is a good move to schedule ASUN football games in the future. Should generate more interest from both schools than just playing a random FCS school. (Conference and name recognition).

I’d be for it. I would prefer to stay away from triple option teams though (KSU).

Playing ASUN teams should be a given. We should still sprinkle in a few VA FCS teams.

Oof. Did I really say that? I must have been riding the high of our historic season. I’m gonna dial it down to 8-4.
