To be fair, less than 25% of the Cajuns fan base had no earthly idea who GaSt and GaSo were. We’ve never heard of them. The whole country knew who Appalachian State was because of the Michigan win.

So it was more about being left by a few rivals because of a lack of effort by our administration. But, the adds and defections have had a much better result on the field than we had anticipated.

The rookies had put their stamp on the SBC and strengthened the brand.

Like the cajun dude said, imagine hearing that your school is going to be associated with what most people will assume were D2 schools. You wouldnt be thrilled either.

At least I imagine thats what their perspective was probably like. How excited would you be if GS and Troy left and SHSU and Nicholls replaced them?

Except App and GS weren’t typical call ups. Comparing App to SHSU? It was ignorant then and even more so with hindsight.

Imagine the MAC looking down of NDSU, that’s a much closer comparison.

Honestly, that really had more to do with our AD at the time totally botching conference realignment. When he says he sent a power point to CUSA and that we weren’t ready to move up it ignited our fan base. I think a lot of that feeling towards the move up was projection of anger on the AD that was aimed towards the move ups...if we are being honest. Hind sight it worked out fit the better IMO

If NDSU joins the Sun Belt we would be a better conference. Does that make me part of the 25% that know their ars from a hole in the ground?

I don’t know why you get so butt hurt about it. Unless an FCS pulls off a major upset of an FBS program then no FBS fan knows who you are. None.

NDSU has upset several Big 12 and Big 10 programs. You can take being unknown as a slight to you, but it’s facts.

Well I'm enjoying the SBC. A great football conference. Solid Baseball and I predict an improving basketball conference. Schools have and are making serious investments in their athletic programs and it is showing.

While some fans and admin were critical of the new members and their own place in the college athletic world, it ended up being a good thing to add the members the SBC did. This was done out of necessity and not by choice, but ended up being a huge win for the SBC and a big hit for the CUSA.

SBC is easily the 3rd best G5 conference overall and will be making a push to surpass the MWC soon. We will have ups and downs, but on average I believe thr SBC will be closer to the top than bottom.

Side note, but the MAC has become mostly irrelevant. They are complacent and will rely on one hit wonders to occasionally shine a spot light on them.

That's what I've been saying. There's already several schools that are $20 million more in debt because of covid. Once the budget gets released, we will see who's hurting and who isn't. Many maybe stuck in coaching contracts they can't quickly get out of, etc etc.

We can agree on the fact that your administration was ignorant.

It was fun watching programs realize we were legit around 2015 and it snowballing from there.

Anyone who was concerned about back-filling with FCS move-ups, that concern was coming from a place of ignorance about the FCS landscape and not anything based in reality. I mean, I'm not blaming anyone for not caring about the FCS but that doesn't make it irrelevant.

A lot of GS and App fans knew all the way back to 2014 that CUSA's expansion strategy was dumb. And that they could both compete right away if the weird seasons they had in 2013 were just hiccups.
