RE: Rocky Lombardi
In the new era of grad transfers, and a “win now” mentality, what gets lost is developing a young QB, working through the maturation process and ultimately benefiting in the end. Harnish is the best example. He was 29-18 as a starter, the bulk of his losses coming in the first two years of his career. He ended up being one of the most successful QBs in program history. Lynch was being developed during Harnish’s run, and we know how that ended. The story continued with Hare. An argument can be made that Childers took a similar path. Point being...depending on where your program is at (0-6 would imply that NIU is more than a piece or two away), if there is a young QB in the system, the development approach may have more merit than the grad transfer approach. Starting QB records since Harnish (minimum of 5 starts)
Harnish 29-18 .617
Lynch 24-4 .857
Hare 15-6 .714
Graham 3-7 .300
Maddie 3-2. .600
Santa 4-1 .800
Childers 15-9 .625
Bowers 4-10 .285

The problem I see is that coaches develop Fletcher over the next 2 years with playing time, but then he transfers to Michigan State to play with his brother.

I highly doubt that - Michigan State has not done a poor job recruiting QBs, a lightly developed MAC QB probably isn't on their wish list. Maybe his brother transfers here?

His brother is a monster. I don't see that happening. He will be a force on Sundays.

Of course...I was kind of joking how they were both crazy ideas.
I honestly think there is going to be more hype around guys transferring that guys actually transferring

The second he finds out about it, he will have convinced half the Spartans offensive line to transfer to NIU.

I pray Cole Tucker stays. He's still rough but he can be a good player if he learns to control his body a bit better, to make those grabs.
