What a game. Wish we’d have showed up the first 4 possessions, 2 O, 2 D. Wouldn’t have come down to the nonsense both ways at the end. But, that’s on us. You were better today.

See you in a few years.

You know...from both teams saying that this wasn't a "rivalry" game beforehand, both teams were unusually fired up and "chippy" with each other making emotional driven mistakes instead of focusing on plain execution. This game while fun to watch looked like two programs that don't like each other (even if they haven't played against each other in 4 years). Both teams looked off offensively and had some questionable play-calling at different points in the game. Liberty looked just dysfunctional passing (overall) and appeared to want to give the game away multiple times by not converting TDs or just turning the ball over in the Red Zone. I thought that Coastal fought back very well but they also looked off offensively and made some questionable play calls later in the game.

Overall a very entertaining game to watch and I truly do think that these two programs should play each other annually (I think they are scheduled to play each other again in 4 years or something) since they obviously have something to prove against each other. Anyone on either side who says this is just another game is flat out "Kenny Rogers Poker Face" Lying!

Naturally one team had to win and one had to lose. But this game was good for college football and should continue in the future.

Actually, that's great...I didn't realize that they were scheduled to play in 2023. This is a good start in FBS for both program's continued rivalry and like I stated previously, they should play each other every year. I see 5 games scheduled...I'm assuming that this years game at Coastal (cxld) will be rescheduled as well. This is a good rivalry with a basic ingredient already there, "some good old fashioned dislike" for each other.

I think that dislike is mostly one sided. I have a lot of respect for the Beach Chickens and what they have done in such a short time. I am a fan of what Chadwell has done throughout his career. There’s a lot of good things associated with CCU. I think many Flames fans feel the same way. From my perspective, it’s a rivalry based on good competition and familiarity. I also like that Liberty now holds an 8-7 series advantage.

My only issue with the Beach Chickens is #94 Gunter. Putting it nicely, I’d say he’s over-aggressive.

#94 was just taking notes from his whiney coach and his actions represent the leadership of CCU. With a head coach complaining about playing conference games, ducking CCG only to have the University President write an open letter (which makes him look silly after this loss) how else do you expect players to act on the field?

It’s all said in good fun. If a CCU fan really had a problem with it, I’d stop. It’s like referring to the New Orlean Aints or the Cincinnati Bungles, even their own fans had fun with it. It’s not a vulgar or personal attack, just some teasing. But like I said, no CCU fan has objected to it.

I actually kind of thought Beach Chickens was a positive nickname, like calling a team the Fighting [Coach's Name]s, or maybe Cowboys being called Pokes. I'm sure I've used It with no ill intent. Maybe it's only sounding negative now that people are actually feeling a need to come up with a term of non-endearment...

Chin-balls is probably more debatable.

With regard to 94, you don't have to put it nicely.

Great game. I honestly don't see the pass interference on 2nd down for Coastal in overtime. Maybe their arms were tangled for a second or legs but it was inadvertent. The Liberty defensive back Reese never grabbed or held the Coastal WR, who seemed to trip on his own and then begged for a flag. I think people are overreacting to what the announcer said without seeing a slow replay.

The holding on the Willis TD a lot earlier I will give you, definitely a hold and missed call.

The Coastal Liberty rivalry will be fun in the future where the two play 5 times in 7 years starting in 2023.

I really wish you would have had that game in the regular season. Both of you deserved to play someone else.

True...they should have played in the regular season if Covid-19 hadn't gotten in the way but Coastal was able to beat BYU instead in a thriller of a game and then played an unbelievably exciting bowl game against Liberty. Yes they unfortunately lost but this Bowl Game actually meant something to both teams and viewers (in terms of interest) as opposed to being scheduled to play against some 2-9 SEC team that cxls last minute due to COVID-19 and the team gets SOL'd because the bowl is then canceled. It was a great bowl game that could have gone either way. As a viewer...one couldn't have asked for more.

I think most Coastal fans don't take it as a term of endearment but also won't get completely butthurt by a little ribbing, unlike some triggered fan bases.

Lol, no kidding. ‘Sides, not like he’s calling us “balls-on-chins”. That was always a fun one. Ohh la la.
