im not on the fire holg hype train yet. this is an awful year no doubt but considering what has been going on i can give it a pass. along with the negatives there have been some positives to go along with it. clayton tune who was just awful has developed into a fine QB that can make some plays under pressure. The team has played well for stints and the defense has improved dramatically. there is no doubt his offense's have put up big numbers but the concern is that we were playing off of players from our heyday with herman ear when we were winning.
our recruiting class has been taken hits ever since applebottoms losing seasons. hopefuly his recruits can shine or we will be stuck around the middle of the pack for awhile.

...uhhhh, the AAC teams were all unmotivated by their inferior opponents and didn't really want to be there.

That's the line, right?

For Houston I wouldn’t call it unmotivated... pretty sure Houston wanted to end this season on a good note but we did have a large number of players unavailable due to covid related issues.

Houston also had some head-scratching play calling down the stretch. IIRC, on the last couple of possessions, down 14 with only minutes remaining, Houston two or three times ran trap-draw type plays that gained about two yards and only served to keep precious seconds melting off the clock. They needed to be throwing DOWN the field, come what may.
I noticed the same thing. Houston also threw low percentage throws like go routes and verts on plays like 3rd and 3. Just bad play calling in general.

Fair enough but when most of your playmakers aren’t there to run a high percentage play it becomes extremely noticeable you’re having to rely on your 2nd or 3rd string backups... Results = Unwatchable... Yikes

I almost feel bad for them.

No one was under the impression we were stealing him. We all knew too well he was getting canned. Some thought he would do better here whichich I hope he will. He just needs to put a complete game and we'll be fine. The players are playing unmotivated.

That's a good point. Holgorsen still can turn this around. I am not sure many here would bet on it happening, but he does still have time.

Well said, quo

Holgorsen’s first year was just a typical first year head coach type season ... 2020 season was an ugly mess for every sport in the world.

I am certain Holgorsen wants nothing more than to revive Houston’s football program back to it’s dominant ways. I’m gonna lean on his third year as being the year that he flipped Houston’s switch back on.

Now, if Holgorsen’s third season doesn’t turn to much his fourth year may be his last here in Houston.

Here hope Holgorsen revives Houston football

As long as he never improves to 8-4, then he can retire at UH.
