Getting to play basketball against D-1 teams when you probably thought you were done after high school? I'm sure it's frustrating on one hand, but on the other hand, getting to play in D-1 arenas against very talented teams is an experience. I'd have loved to have gone out and pitched against some D-1 teams, even if they lit me up (and they would have).

Who are these “very talented teams” you speak of? I doubt they’ve played anyone who will be seeing the tournament.

They’re playing D1 talent, but don’t overstate how good that is. They aren’t getting pounded by Duke, Villanova, Kentucky, and the Gonzaga’s of D1. They’re getting thumped by the likes of some who may be at the bottom of the NET rankings by season end.

What’s kind of sad for Carver is that if they played one of these top D1 schools, they might be subject to more mercy than they’ve gotten from some of these other teams. These bad teams Carver faces finally get a night to take out frustrations on someone, and that’s Carver. That is not fun in the least. And not even in an ironic, funny way to tell friends, family, and future generations.

There is one tournament worthy school in there too in Liberty. In a normal year, these schools would be paying MEAC and SWAC schools to take this beating.

Sorry about that with forgetting Liberty. But, still...Kennesaw, Citadel, UNA, Presby, and Stetson? Their “best loss” was something to the tune of 35 points to Charleston Southern. If you’re on Carver’s roster, this is not fun or exciting.

It may not be fun or exciting TO YOU, but you don't decide that for other people.

For some kids, just getting the opportunity to play college ball is fun and exciting. Maybe it was their only offer or opportunity to play ball. And maybe they need the buy games to keep their program afloat.

And that’s quite noble. That they can rack up all these games when in other years not as many would even bother, and the money comes in to keep the team funded for a couple of years. If that’s the intent, I hope they sing it from their rooftops.

Still a shame they couldn’t grab games against bigger names.
