I would like part of my annual donation to go towards penalty flags for the coaches to use during scrimmages, so we can practice what not to do.
Now that we know we are keeping Clark, I feel entitled to go back to complaining about penalties and Vincent

Very. The grass field should already be there.

All of that sounds good. These are investments that will continue helping the program even if we do lose Clark in the future and should help with conference realignment. Any know if we've started fundraising?

I'm sure there is always some sort of on-going fundraising effort.
Bill is challenging this fan base of a "vocal few" that has made so much happen to make even more happen. He was very specific in his choice of words mentioning " a top 25 football program." The script is written: if we put up the cash, he will give us what we both want.

The grass field I understand and agree with Coach Clark on. That field was part of the original plans for the practice facility and it should already be there.
How is a dedicated cafeteria going to help us get in the Top 25? Please don't say recruiting because so far our new facilities haven't materially improved our classes.
I think a new offensive coordinator would go much further towards that Top 25 goal. We were very close this season before losing two in a row. If we had only had that cafeteria...

The smoothie bar is not enough for a top 25 appearance. There's a food court at the Hill Center.

RE: Clark: "Talk is cheap," details items on his request list for UAB program
I asked in past posts "What does UAB need to do next to remain competitive with its G5 contemporaries"? Since student pay is not an issue (YET), it is the improvement of student amenities -- like nutritional upgrades -- that can give UAB some recruiting advantage. Last spring Bama announced a $5 million upgrade in athletic nutritional facilities so that is one item. What is FBHC Clark specifically thinking about as a new offering on his agenda? He is after all, the leader who is speaking to the recruits directly and hearing their feedback.

NOT improved recruiting???????
We just put 20 guys on the all Conf team. We have 3 invites to major All star games. We have won 2 of last three conference championships. We have statistically the best Oline in our history, with more depth than ever before. Let’s don’t make uneducated statements like this!

Recruiting hasn’t improved upon his standards. You want to be top 25 On the field but can’t do it with a 115th ranked class in recruiting. I’m for giving him what he needs in order to improve in that category. Is that what most of the sec schools likely have? Yes.
Is it what UCF, Memphis, SMU, Cincinnati, Houston, ULaLa, Coastal, App State, Boise State have that puts them in that top 25 category? No.
I think there’s some meeting in the middle. You hire a staff that can beat teams as we’d expect in ULaLa and La Tech and we’ll give you more facilities in hopes to close the gap in not letting instate recruits leave for out of state p5 or top25 g5 schools.

we lost two in a row because we were down to our 3rd string QB. that limits you play calling.

Rankings and stars. I’ll take wins and player development.
How many teams above us with better recruiting “rankings” would do anything to be in our shoes?

I respect you greatly OldDragon but I still have to disagree. If our recruiting is improved why do we only have one post-Return player on NFL rosters (Ant Rush)? Let's see if guys like Watkins and Smith actually get drafted.
We are winning with about the same talent Callaway and McGee had on the roster. We do have much better coaching but we also play much weaker competition.
Look at our league in these bowl games. CUSA is a half step above FCS. If we dropped to the Southern Conference we might have even more on the All-conference team.

I see both sides, but developing guys only goes so far..
The recruiting and offense HAVE to improve for us to take the next step that BC has said is his goal for UAB. We can stack the CUSA all star teams and win CUSA championships every other year and still suck on the national stage, which we basically do at this point. Taking the next step is a lot more about running an offense for 2020, not 1980, and not a cafeteria.
How good would we have been with this level of talent and offense against the competition and conference some of our coaching forebears coached against? We've mostly beaten up on bad teams to this point since the Return.
We are light years ahead of where we were, but some things have to change to take the next step..
