Rock bottom. Unprecedented. I’ve never even heard of it at a bible college, NCCAA, ACCA, or tribal college basketball (yes, I actually watch all of them:) ) And I’ve still never heard of it, except possibly once at the very, very end of a season. I get injuries and eligibility can reduce numbers, but CSU has reached a new low and essentially doesn’t exist as a D1 program in my eyes.

So does the WAC have any say whether or not a team can just throw in the towel? They have to be out of compliance on multiple fronts. It is time to let CSU go.

We are living in unprecedented times, my friend.

Everything will work out in the end. No need for the WAC to be aggressive about it. I think Chicago State should have just paused for 2 weeks like others do, but I don’t know for sure what they’re dealing with. The WAC really doesn’t need the bad pub for calling BS on this situation.

Exactly. Everything will work out in the end. This actually helps the WAC in basketball. Chicago State has been last in the nation in Net Ranking the past two seasons. They will not hurt the league this season. With the addition of the Texas Four and SUU, they will likely be headed out the door at some point. Chicago State needed a home and the WAC provided it and the WAC needed D1 schools to stay alive as a conference and Chicago State provided that to the WAC. It was a marriage of convenience that was always going to end at some point.

The WAC should make this the Chicago State Challenge. They get to be in the WAC, play all the preseason non con games they want, and if they can achieve a high enough NET ranking, they get to play a conference schedule too. If they can’t meet a certain NET ranking, no one has to play them. Or just make them travel instead of getting home games lol.

I have precisely zero knowledge of the situation at Chicago St. so please take everything I say with a grain of salt. The curious part of the release has to do with Academic Health of the program. We know Chicago St has been playing with a skeleton team (sometimes as few as 6 players if I read it correctly). I wonder if there may be some of the players that are in danger of being academically ineligible as well, which would be a reason why they need to shut it down for the rest of the year as opposed to just a couple weeks.

All speculation on my part, but the narrative fits in my opinion.

GO AGGIES!!!!

Good point! Did not think of that.
