Somebody had to start this thread and it is, again, me.

What can I say. Before the last two games, I would have said that this is an interesting game between two teams of similar strengths. But now I do not think so. Two consecutive debacles really exposed how inexperienced our team is. And without a serviceable QB, we have very little chance in this game. The defense will, likely, keep the game competitive in the first half. Maybe.

Any idea why Memphis went for 2 after the last TD? Seemed kind of random

I guess they saw how easy it was and just couldn’t resist.

Things looked grim at halftime, but the Owls at least have shown enough nerve and enough grit to avoid the blowout. Not enough the avoid the loss, unfortunately.

Well, if one considers that this team was extremely handicapped, even more than I knew, with personnel missing and unavailable, this wasn't as bad as I expected.

Lost by 15 with two failed 4th downs deep in Memphis' half. I wish we still had Robison under the center... Does anyone know what he did to be thrown off the team?

Robison was solid. He had some great TEs in 2019. Even with Robison there, you haven't had a great passing attack. You've had great OLinemen (how?) and been able to run the ball these last 4 years. Kiffin adapted to the talent the had and won with it. Taggert now has Kiffin's recruits and a few of his own. With this bowl, he can immediately assure recruits of continued success with the program. This program is still on the upswing. Some stumbles were to be expected with the coaching change. How many seniors can you expect to return?

Our passing attack was not amazing but it was strong. 28TDs and 6 INTs (Robison alone) are excellent stats. Yes, rushing attack was the main weapon, but passing attack is something that was needed in 2019 and it came through strong.

This year we do not have much talent at QB. People (including here on these threads) have been insisting that Posey has talent. Yes, he is a talented athlete. But Tronti is a better QB and it is not saying much.

This year, FAU had a lot of athletic talent, just not at QB.

Polished. Robison was not. C-USA has seen much better passing teams. You were strong enough on the OLine to dominate C-USA.

I'm not sure if you've had the depth at receiver. You had a ton of drops versus us. Everyone recruits South Florida for receiver/DB talent.

If Tronti or Posey can progress with regular Spring drills occurring, you'll be fine.

My money is on the Penn St 4 star transfer Micheal Johnson Jr. But we all know the % of transfers that work out. Posey can’t make the reads necessary at this level and Tronti should get better but he just doesn’t seem to have the arm on a consistent basis.

trick play they had been practicing a lot this season...

good game Owls. I'm not thrilled about 8-3 and a bowl win but without Gainwell/Coxie its not so bad.

Robison was a great talent with a huge arm. What he did not have is a head on his shoulders. He would have been able to complete a lot of passes that the current two signal callers did not.
