If they wanted to just send out relief checks they could have done that months ago in a 2 page bill.

Congress doesnt do anything anymore unless its large, confusing, complex, and rushed. This way no one has time to read what they are actually voting on and is peer pressured into voting for it less face campaign ads that "CONGRESSMAN X VOTED AGAINST YOUR CORONA RELIEF"

Im sure McConnell got a lot of what he wanted out of this bill

Dude, the Republican party is no different than the Democrats. They spend just as much as long as it benefits their interests. Their fiscal bonafides has been the whole time.

And this should have been done months ago. The Democrats are just as much at fault here, but the house did pass things months ago and turtle has had plenty of time to get something done without forcing anyone to miss a holiday.
