NU stays down south to face Georgia tonight.

Last week NU faced a Syracuse team coming off a 100-point blowout win over BC. NU was able to keep SU under wraps before falling short by 6.

Georgia is undefeated (6-0) and coming off a 15 point win over Cincinnati, which is the best team they've played all season so far.

Can the young pups keep this one close again and give themselves a shot to win?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

But they will need both Walker and Telfort to be healthy in this one.

What a depressing hour. These experiences will be good for the team in the long run if we can learn from them and adjust. We competed really well and came out with great purpose on both ends. I do worry at a certain point, this became more traumatic than good though

But boy, does our tent fold quickly when we face adversity. The 2nd half brought up disastrous themes from last year that we need to clean up
• When Ty goes out, we have absolutely no Plan B. Our offense clogs and then it starts impacting our turnovers and defense
• We need to move the ball quicker. We don’t have anyone who can really create their own shot when the defense locks down and pressures
• Ty needs to be more judicious with his fouls. Don’t reach in, don’t try and draw charges. Having him on the court is way more important than a steal. And make the referees your ally instead of arguing 80% of the calls. They are humans and have your fate in their whistles
• Man, do we turn the ball over like it is a grenade

We're going to have to live with this until February when NU finally starts to figure it out. Right now, there's no sense IMO pointing out all of their faults. We can see what they are.

Young teams like this make you happy and sad real fast.

Agreed, this is a long play that I am prepared may not see benefits even until next year. Feb would make me ecstatic

We may not have to wait until February to see progress. For one thing, once we start conference play we won't face any teams with five four star or higher players like Georgia has, no one with a zone as good as Syracuse, etc. I also think that part of the soluton will be recognizing two of the points you made, 35. First, we are a completely different team when Ty is out. He needs to be on the floor. And second, Ty reaching in is taking him off the floor.

As a guard who gets a lot of steals like he does, reaching in can be something that you do.

He just has to learn not to be over-aggressive.

If he can do that....fine. If he can't then I would gladly give up his 2.2 steals per game to keep him on the floor. Let everyone else reach in and slap at the ball.

Since I brought up the point, I wanted to mention a few other things. First, this is not excusive at all to Tyson. You see good players on most teams do this. It just always puzzles me based on the lousy risk/reward ratio. Also, I know why they do it. These kids are so damn good now, they have a high degree of success. Especially someone as skilled as him. Lastly, the other part of the equation is the fact as a player, you need to allow for at least one missed call per game. The game goes so quickly and the kids are so talented, at times the refs are going based on what they think. For example, Tyson’s 3rd foul last foul was not a good call. So in your mind, you need to play thinking you have only 4 fouls max. Anyway, he’s still barely a sophomore (basketball wise) and I’m sure will learn from experience

Tyson is better at it than most because of his quickness and good hands. Still, especially on the road, if you do it a lot you're either going to foul or get called for fouls when you didn't foul. Like you say, it happens so fast. There is only one player on the team that it is crucial we keep on the floor.
