How was this not reported on more? Any time a coach is hit with a show-cause, it usually is front page news in college athletics.

It's good for Florida, they were able to get hit with sanctions, ride them out, and recruit, without any one knowing. Now it's all over.

This must be what they call 'double secret' probation.

I used to think Florida State fans were just being paranoid when they suggested that the Seminoles are always under investigation by ESPN while the Gators can do no wrong. It's hard to believe ESPN didn't know about this, yet no coverage until today?

Or they did know and didn't want to look bad before signing the big SEC contract.

It is a charge that is going to be leveled against anything that doesn't agree with the New World Order.

That said, it was not a truly serious offense if any of our local gentry care to read the infractions. It was a bus load of high school kids that showed up to tour Florida facilities on the way to the state championship games. And the premature presence of Mullen at a high school coach's office when the recruit was seated in the adjoining room.

Hell this stuff has been going on since the inception of the game. I reported many such infractions in the 80's and from what was then 6 power conferences' coaches. None of them deserved a harsh penalty and none of them got one, and neither did Mullen or Florida for these.

In the end it is just one more nail in the coffin of the NCAA. BTW, there were no substantive penalties here. Mullen was probably succeeding too quickly for some other regional powers comfort, possibly even some in the SEC.
