Wow. That article spells out very clearly the reality of being in this conference. It’s a great, and sadly accurate analysis. The only thing I think it misses is that it focuses exclusively on football. Basketball in CUSA (while not the old CAA) Has some reasonable interest and rivalries. It’s better than the Belt or current CAA. But does any of that matter if it’s still a one bid league? Probably not much.

I read it too, it is sadly accurate, however IMHO, the writer did not bring up anything that we didn't already know. Sounds like the impetus for his writing it was the disastrous bowl results the conference had this past week.

At least you have reason to believe ODU will be part of whatever the G5s do while JMU is watching CAA football come apart and no guarantee that a G5 landing spot will present when the G5s shift.

How is CAA falling apart?

CAA All in; Rumors out there that W&M is pursuing the Pioneer League. The W&M AD has said that conversations (what level) have taken place.

CAA Football; Rumors the northern football only schools may leave CAA Football. There has been notable friction between JMU and CAA football members.

The CAA is an institution mismatch ticking time bomb.

A Belt/CUSA mashup is needed. Everybody knows this... Maybe the leftover Belt members are resistant?

If this happens, the sooner the better for all but JMU. JMU has key retirements coming up and hopefully, a unrenewed president.

I think it’s the former SB members that are hesitant to go to a SB/CUSA mashup. They paid a lot of money to leave the Belt and join CUSA for what was supposed to be a step up in prestige, exposure and revenue. Of course that didn’t pan out in reality, but it’s how they feel. Much like some here feel about talk of us going back to the CAA.

Pioneer League for the Tribe? Interesting, that's a non-scholly league.

Thought the same. Especially since they did the stadium renovation. I’ve heard “patriot league” rumored for them. Perhaps it was mistyped.

I see the frequent writers on here trying to drum up anti-administration support but I also see ODU Athletics raising more money than it ever has year after year with an even larger $5m gift to fund the current pandemic year's scholarship bill. If that isn't evidence to the contrary, I'm following the wrong indicators here.

Or perhaps the real fans are here and fake fans just cut the checks.

Yet, they cut wrestling because they couldn't afford it any longer.

TAKE ELMER AND BALLARD OUT OF FUND RAISING, AND THAT SPELLS TROUBLE FOR WOOD! DON'T LOOK FOR THE LITTLE GUY, INTO TODAY'S ECONOMIC WORLD.

Yes and I believe the sun belt now feels like it does not need us either. La tech has already said they do not want the other Louisiana schools and I'm sure sun belt schools feel the same way and even though it makes all the sense in the world, unless there is a change of heart(money) it will never happen.
