Boise State now interested in AAC

I'd like to be spiteful and say no, but if it helps us cement our P6 argument...which I haven't heard this year...ok.
Just my $.02.

We have seen the value of P6 by how Cincinnati got raped by the committee. The value is in the monetary value of the contract and the path to NY6. Boise would be another potential hurdle that the conference doesn't need. Boise is screwing their conference mates as it is. Let their sweetheart deal run out and they can get back to making CUSA money.

All Boise does is open the door for a one loss AAC school being passed over for an undefeated school in a lesser conference for NY6. Boise can go and join the Big East if they are interested in a move.

Are you saying Boise will be the conference queen if they move to the AAC? I’m not ready to give them that free pass.

I’m still not convinced another FB only school is our answer but I’m thinking more in a more traditional mindset. Maybe we build independent pieces rather than a whole athletic program.

I'm not saying that at all. They have by far the easiest path to NY6 every year and they haven't played in it in 6 years. They have only won their own championship game 3 out of 8 years, and lost this year. I'm saying that they will possibly be a spoiler. A win against them won't mean much, but they are still good enough to beat everyone on any given day.

I don't want them to have the chance to play in NY6, I don't want them to have access to the money from our TV contract, I don't want them wrecking another member's NY6 bid.

RE: Boise State now interested in AAC
The Mountain West has a tv contract that runs through 2026 that pays each school $4 million each, when you add everything up. Boise has a sweetheart deal which allows it to do its own deal for its home games, which adds up to an additional $1.8 million per game. So Boise is making $10 million more than its conference mates every year. The downside is that being buried on CBSSN and Fox Sports is damaging their brand. They basically took a similar deal that Aresco rejected last time; which was a lot more money to be on CBSSN and Fox Sports instead of ESPN.

So Boise still has a brand and still is a very good program; but their brand is going through a gradual decline that isn't going to end. They also aren't getting games against marquee P5 opponents like they did in the past. Once the contract is up in 2026, there is no way that they will be able to command anywhere close to the money they are making now.

With everything factored in, we are probably making around $8.5 million on our tv contract, we have great exposure on ESPN, and there is no GOR that prevents us from moving on when the Big12 or ACC are ready to make a move.
