Let him run the team, and Penny can be the face and lead recruiter. We have some good players but are terribly coached. It’s not a point guard problem, it’s a coaching problem. This team is just awful now.
The assistant thing is not going to work or will take some major overhauling because Penny has signed these guys under the promise of not playing traditional college ball. I think I remember Harrison Ingram and Greg Brown among other recruits mentioning how different the style is. Unless he has an elite talent and elite athleticism what he does won't work but it's how he got them here so how does he bring in some guy preaching standing around swinging the ball? He would have to first admit his whole plan was bad which I don't see him doing.
Ridiculous! You think the players are happy now? Is this helping any of their NBA dreams? It’s just chaos. Chaos works in AAU or high school when you have real superior talent. It doesn’t work against well coached teams with decent talent. How many players on Tulsa or VCU would you be happy with signing? We have highly ranked talent, but without leadership they just look awful.
By now Penny knows what he’s doing just isn’t working. He had the talent to thrive in a system like this, but none of these guys do. They’re good players but none have his talent. He desperately needs a veteran coach that can install an offense and be able to make adjustments during the game. It’s just not happening now.
Look, I’m not saying fire Penny. But get in someone that can fill a need.
He is first going to have to admit that he has messed off 1 or 2 years of their college careers by changing this system which won't go over well.

It’s obvious to the players, coaches, and fans that this “system” is a total bust. He doesn’t have to admit anything, everyone already knows. We get beat with lesser talent consistently. There is no structure and that just doesn’t work against well coached teams.
Anyway, the players have to be disgusted with the situation and would love to change to something that works. Bring in someone that knows how to coach offense.

I personally doubt that it's as obvious to players and maybe even the head coach as you think it is. If it was they wouldn't be all out there trying the same stuff for a 2nd straight year.
From what I know about 18-20 year old minds, if they blame the coach for anything it's because he isn't giving them enough touches to shine. May not be rational to you but it's how they think. Not so much the coach isn't slowing us down and organizing us. Because the fact is most of them haven't not played in many situations where you need organization to beat the opponent. So how would they even know what it's supposed to look like?
