Ugly, but it might be a useful win come Selection time. ULL typically are in the top third of their conference and push for regionals.

Great game! Rhode Island has a nice looking team. We have to get those bats warmed up tomorrow.

I'll say it now. ECU is going to be dominant this year. Arms for days, flawless defense, and a ton of power when things warm up. This won't be our best hitting team, but this will be our best all around team.

We're stacked for sure. Good looking team all around.

Gonna go ahead and apologize for two things about USF baseball this year. First, based only on our opener so far, we're gonna have more trouble scoring than a fat kid with glasses and acne in high school. Second, anybody forced to watch our home games on ESPN+ are going to marvel at the amateurish camerawork, lack of useful angles for any kind of meaningful replay and complete absence of graphics to describe anything about the game. Thank God one of the camera angles occasionally catches to scoreboard or you wouldn't know how many hits each team has.

We're in a scoreless tie with FGCU in the 10th inning. 13 LOB for the Bulls through 9.

Edited to add - lost 4-1 in 10 innings. 15 LOB. SOB

RE: AAC approves new 2021 baseball schedule; over 1/2 AAC ranked in nat'l preseason poll
A lot of anticipation for WSU baseball returning to serious respectability, hopefully with this season, after a promising abbreviated 2020.
Our re-reshuffled start of this season now will be #19 Oklahoma State for two games in Wichita (Sunday and Monday) replacing the 3 game Oklahoma series that had been quickly set up to be played in Texas and couldn't happen for obvious reasons.
OSU for two on our turf is a pretty good consolation, and a great challenge for the Shockers.
AAC should be an excellent baseball conference this year and the Shockers should have the pitching and defense to be competitive. If our hitting comes around, we could be seriously in the hunt.
We'll begin to get a sense of it starting tomorrow.

Bats were warm but everything else was still cold (talking about the temperature, lol) as the Pirates move to 2-0 with a 7-1 win.

UC was swept at # 25 Clemson, losing 5-0, 5-2, and 8-7 in 10 innings yesterday.

UC's starting pitching actually looked pretty good. It took a while for the bats to wake up but they got a nice long HR on Saturday and scored 7 yesterday.

It's always a tough start to the season for northern teams but especially when there is no way to practice on a field (when it is covered in snow and ice for three weeks).

They have cages, mounds, and an IPF07-coffee3

This Tulane team looks bad in close games. There is tons of time to recover, though.

I don't think it's the same. You can't have a real baseball practice without a field. Hitting in a cage is not the same as being in the stadium/field environment.

The snow here should be gone next week and temps will be getting in or close to the 50's some days, so that will help.

Having said that, what I saw from UC was encouraging.

ECU baseball appears to be elite - but I've seen BAD ECU teams rally and good ones wilt, so I don't trust any records until late March...

Cliff recruits at a different level. We have a ton of depth now with not a lot of drop off. It seems to me as long as we have Cliff will be competing to at least host our regional.

One thing Im curious about this season is the coverage baseball will get on ESPN+. I have a feeling it will be much easier and more fun to follow the baseball race this year. I think the new deal will allow AAC baseball fans to have easy access to more---and better produced---AAC baseball games this year.

Tulane home games are all on ESPN+. That is most of our nonconference schedule, and the road series against Cowbell is also on ESPN+ since they're in the SEC.
