Boise will join AAC

I'm waiting for the C Austin Cox tweet.

If true, disgusting, that we are giving a lifeline to that pompous, yesterday's news program.

The Cincinnati Enquirer and the Mountain West Wire are reporting that Boise State and San Diego State are courting to join the AAC.

We know about the courting stuff; up to now, nobody is saying that it will happen. The article says that Boise and SDSU are considering joining, which is even worse.

I don't get the Boise hate. They are light years ahead of UConn in football.

That doesn’t take much. UCONN is gone no matter what happens, so we shouldn’t use their team as the bar to hit for a replacement.

Better than BYU. Lots of upper West Tennessee and Western Kentucky connections with Boise State. I may see some old friends.

Vitriol aside (I don't think Boise is pompous), I get one of the points against adding them. We can't get in the CFP. (Surely nobody is left to argue that we can.) So our best reward is the Access Slot in the NY Bowl. The winner of the AAC will get that likely 3 out of 4 years. Adding Boise makes it a good bit tougher to win.

Looking on the bright side, with Boise and SDSU, there will be no doubt that the AAC winner gets the Access. Could/should also lead to better bowl options as contracts come up. And I'm thinking we wouldn't be considering this without ESPN's input that our tv package will improve enough to, at the very least, offset another 2 pieces of pie.

And I'm telling you, both are good road trips.

Ideally, we will short them for 3 years.
