RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
The AAC is not inviting anyone unless it benefits current members - this wouldn't be a benefit Boise only deal. If BSU, BYU, SDSU come into the AAC it will only happen if it benefits current members. I don't understand this animosity against BSU. They didn't come because the BE dissolved. They had an alternative none of the AAC current members had at that time to have better security & make equivalent or more money. You can be assured if Memphis had a better alternative back then, we would have taken it given the unknowns facing a then new AAC. Further, BSU had to pay to withdraw & they did. The primary criteria for adding BSU or anyone else going forward will be revenue. If there is a reasonable increase in net revenue to add schools they will likely be added. Strategically, adding a BSU & SDSU from the MWC strengthens the AAC by weakening the MWC but probably doesn't add revenue. But add BYU to the mix & it might benefit all involved parties by added strength of the conference & furthering the P6 narrative credibility. We don't know these things, we can only offer opinions. It's an ESPN or other OTA network decision to determine value of such additions & that will tell if there is value.

Cincinnati showed us this year that being a top program in the country doesn't mean a thing. All adding anyone does is make it more likely that each member will lose a game, which will lessen the chances of NY6. The AAC approached Boise when the TV contract was $2 million per team, and they told us to take a hike. Now it is $7 million and they want in. The only reason to let in Boise or anyone else is IF their inclusion raises the tv contract from $7 million to $10 million per team. That's it; no other reason.

Boise is buried on CBSSN and Fox Sports and there is ZERO chance they will be able to make anywhere near the money they are making now when the the MWC Conference contract is up in 2026. An undefeated San Jose State that just beat Boise in their CCG is ranked at #22.

We have Boise and the MWC right where we want them. Completely out of the picture and soon completely out of the money. None of them add anything. Screw Boise.

Ike is in favor of adding Boise and BYU, please don't drop ECU we owe them a few beat downs.
Ike also loves the Boise blue field, he was very disappointed when the new turf installed at the LB
Wasn't TIGER BLUE

RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
I'm betting Boise State will try to get Utah State's head coach...most recently at Arkansas State.
For people who are for this move...this ain't the Boise State that was upsetting Oklahoma and the wild trick plays.
They're still "decent". The MWC version of our Tiger program now.
They had a chance to be in the AAC, and they paid to get away from us.
Only if it increases our chances of a NY6 bowl, and raises our tv payout to $10 million a team as someone else suggested would I be interested in taking them.

On another note, and contrary to some uninformed opinions, it would be a great football road (air) trip.

RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
Boise State has had 18 straight bowl games (of course, we have seven ourselves), cool nickname, slick marketing but they have no pull for us in terms of elevating us or our conference. I suppose the AAC could further distance themselves from the 'G5' and say 'hey, we are SO much better than the G4, we really are P6.' But would that be enough for the AAC to sniff the CFP? I doubt it.

Boise State would require another mouth to feed, a different time zone and would have very few built-in rivalries. They also wouldn't help the AAC get a better TV deal.

I agree with another poster: if Boise State would pony up $10 million (or maybe $12 million, $1m for each AAC school), it might be worth it.

Right now, they are able to negotiate deals for their home games; which pulls in an additional $1.8 million per game for them. The conference's contract is up in 2026. They know that they don't have the cache that they once did and IF we reject them, they will have no leverage with their conference mates.

They will be forced to take a lot less money and will be stuck in a conference where a 7-0 San Jose State doesn't even crack the top 20. Leave them where they are.

Boys down the alley say the only way BSU should be admitted is if TCU, WVa, Kansas, and Kstate become members also. Then the AAC is a 16 team conference and supplants the Bxiil as a power 5 conference and probably competes with the PAC and the ACC for a team in the invitational exhibition series at the end of the season (for the mythical national championship). Otherwise they bring very little to the table.

ESPN or another network will determine if a BSU addition would be an asset not the views & opinions of fans. Even AAC member admins will put their personal views of BSU (or expansion in general) aside if there is a revenue boost to conference members to expand.

I think it would have to be that (a revenue boost of significance) or if adding BSU would be key to an automatic bid for the AAC to an 8-team playoff. One can hope.

And if it motivated an 8 team CFP, that itself should boost member revenues.

Yep. It will be a financial decision based on TV revenue.

As a fan I am all for it. Boise does bring a brand name in football. UCF/Boise, Cincy/Boise, Memphis/Boise will be a boost to ESPN ratings for AAC games.

A conference w/Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State >>>> a 16 team AAC.
