No reason to drop any program.

Sets a dangerous precedent.

Agree. I realize some of these posts were hyperbole, but the conference isn’t kicking anyone out.

RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
Don't we need to add a team for divisions, or go to a full round-robin in order to continue having a AAC champ game? I think our exemption is only temporary, and those are the standards to have a CCG.
The "too far west" reason is non-valid. It's football-only and so that's one longer flight every 2 years for half the conference programs, and every 4-ish years for the other half. The travel burden is a non-issue for all except Boise.
Having another time zone will actually improve tv coverage, and they definitely have a brand.
I'll allow it.

Agree. Surprisingly from the revealed emails, BSU has been pushing for all sports. IMO, that too is workable but only if we go to 14, adding BSU, BYU & maybe SDSU to have a true "western" division with those 3 schools, UH, SMU, Tulsa & one more of Tulane, Memphis, Cincy or Navy (who wants to) be in the west (with WSU in place of Navy for olympic sports).

RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
Former Memphis and current Idahoan here (although a 7 hour drive from Boise). Boise State is the flagship school in Idaho. Boise (and Idaho in general) is growing fast. I’m all for this move because it would mean I could go see the tigers every few years.

On a related note, I also want Memphis to start scheduling Gonzaga again, as that’s only 45 minutes from my house. Maybe wait until the tigers have an offense though. Right now Gonzaga would probably win by 40.

Don't think Gonzaga would waste their time on is at this point, unfortunately.

Workable? It is a complete nightmare. Why would anyone in their right mind go through all this to accommodate Boise? Boise already screwed us and has been screwing their conference mates forever.

Who wants to be in the west? Is that a joke? 01-wingedeagle

Right now, our flights to Cincinnati, Tulsa, Dallas, Houston, and New Orleans are all around an hour or less. Even more significantly; Cincinnati, Tulsa, Dallas, Houston and New Orleans are all drivable for our olympic sports teams.

Who do you think will be lined up to "want" the extra travel and playing games at 10am or 10pm?

It would be stupid.

RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
The only reason I'd be interested in Boise State at this point is if it brings in the $$$ and better bowl tie-ins than the Mousefart.com and Okra Farmers of America bowls. I don't know that it would, though, unless they were joined by the fighting Mormons, but BYU thinks they're above the lowly AAC teams. Boise State wants in on a rising AAC that they previously turned down and it would benefit them more from a recruiting standpoint than it would the rest of the AAC.

San Jose State's reward for going undefeated and beating Boise in their CCG is being ranked #22, and the Arizona Bowl against Ball State. The bowl has a payout of $206,460 per team.

And from the reports about those emails, he was at the forefront advocating for the move. If he’s gone, how does BSU look now as a “power” with a new coach?

They weren’t getting any traction with their “A” list of candidates. And, they are paying Gus a bus load to go away...

RE: Boise State courting the AAC?
Will be interesting to see if this BSU interest continues, especially the all sports interest. The idaho papers are saying BSU stands to gain "millions" with a move to the AAC. That would have to mean ESPN has been involved. If BYU says yes (doubtful), it means there would be a western division probably with SDSU, who also wants to come. We know Navy wants to be in the west because they made that a stipulation when joining the AAC & likely for the Navy recruiting in TX & large Navy population in San Diego. So Tulsa, UH, Navy, BSU, BSU, SMU & ? Just hope it's not us. For those down on BSU from 2011, don't forget they did pay us for withdrawing. And this won't happen unless there's more money.....

Not what Aresco has been saying publicly. He says we don't need an even number in basketball. We're fine at 11.

They bailed on the Big East because it didn't help them at a time when adding them would have helped us. They are taking an extra $9 million per year more than their conference mates, without helping improve the league's brand. Cincinnati, while getting completely screwed for being undefeated; still made it to #6. San Jose State is undefeated AND just beat Boise in their CCG and is ranked #22.

There is ZERO benefit to adding them. They add little value, they aren't going to make the AAC all of a sudden playoff worthy in the eyes of the cartel, AND it will enrich them and give them an opportunity for NY6 that they really don't have now.

Why would we do anything to help Boise gain millions? SCREW THEM.
