Yep... COVID-related. Maybe Army can get in now. The article suggests Miss State filling UT’s slot, then Army taking their spot in the Armed Forces bowl.

I would ask all Tigers fans to never attend another LB game. They just don't support the university. They've had many chances to manipulate the hometown team into their bowl over the years, and have only done it once - at the time we were peaking as a program. They have sold their soul to the P5 and are happy to take whatever scrap team those conferences are willing to toss them.

Give the money directly to St. Jude and watch some other game on tv.

I'm as critical of the SCHD as anyone.
But I believe the LB is getting the same restrictions we got - 6 feet distancing and groups less than 10.
The problem was that the university distribution of small groups only allowed for about ~10k fans.

I thought for sure the Liberty Bowl would take Memphis this year and invite a school within 2-3 hour drive.

I have been agreeing with you over and over here lately. Chalk this one up as well. I am upset with the LB. I was just saying it in another thread.

The Liberty Bowl has their own problems trying to remain a good bowl in a good time slot. Why in the world would they want us over 2 teams that travel here (i know this ain't one of those years). I would love to play in the Liberty Bowl once in a blue moon, and we did, but the city is better off when the Liberty Bowl gets 2 traveling teams with fans eating, drinking and sleeping here.

LOL
They are not going to have any traveling fans this year.
Would have been easy to get us into the game this year.
They chose not to do so, and it ain't about tourism dollars. It's about lining pockets of P5 fat cats, so Ehrhart can continue to draw - what, $250k? - salary for organizing one game a year.

I think picking up Army was a class move. I also think Army will draw good TV ratings.
