Most UAB fans would hate to see him go but would have nothing but the best wishes from the fan base.
Would that opinion change if the best Sr's on the team decided to follow him?
I can't speak for others but it would not change anything for me. Some players go to a school because of a coach, some because of the school. If a coach leaves and players he or she recruited wants to follow them then so be it.

Who cares 5 million x 4 = 20. How much would he make over the next 4 years at UAB?

Hopefully John Grass

Just being candid: I think Clark is a much better coach than Malzahn and can absolutely put AU in the Top 10 on a regular basis, contending for Playoffs and National Championships.
Of course the politics are more intense in the SEC. But the political terrain that Clark navigated from 2014-2017 was pretty extreme, too. Dealing with a university president who was out to get him, and who was supported by a lot of the BOT in that effort. Clark outmaneuvered them all, and didn’t simply survive, he prevailed.

Like Nebraska getting rid of Pelini. He was winning at least 9 games every year. Now look where they are. Auburn is tough because most years LSU and Alabama are going to have better/more talent. Plus now you have to deal with Texas A&M and you could get a tough from from the east.

For the last 7 years, Auburn won 9+ games twice (10-4 in 2017, 9-4 in 2019).
Malzahn won 12 of his first 13 games and reached the NC game vs. Florida State.
Since then, Auburn is 56-34 overall. 32-26 vs. SEC, with 1 appearance in SEC-CG, which they lost. Not a horrible record but nowhere close to great. If AU hires Clark, I’d wager that he will improve those #s

It's a different world in the SEC, or most P5 conferences, look at Frost, everyone thought he would take Nebraska back to greatness after his success at UCF now he's on the hot seat.

Hearing from a couple of sources that UAB HC Bill Clark is no longer in the running for the Auburn coaching job.
Obviously, this isn't concrete, but am waiting for additional confirmation from other sources.

Not sure. It easier to list who hasn’t turned the job down.

Pelini's act (i.e. his personality) at Nebraska had worn a bit thin with administration officials. Nebraska had delusions of past grandeur when anything under 10 wins was considered reason to be fired (and for not being Tom Osbourne apparently). Remember Frank Solich was actually fired after averaging 10 wins a year (early 90's) so Pelini being fired for averaging 9.5 wins a year isn't that far off base for what has become unrealistic expectations for anyone not named Tom Osbourne (or Bob Devaney)

I'm not a homer I flat out say it when Western is down. I also tell it like I believe it on coaches at Western. I'm just very blunt on my words and point of view. A homer is when everything is sunshine and roses.....

Truth: most C-USA players are not at Auburn’s level and will not be offered scholarships there. A few? Yes of course.
