He needs to learn how to put a fire under these guys. They've been really underperforming this year.

Around #65 with his current contract. Based on being responsible for selling an extra 10,000 tickets per game alone, definitely.

He has likely already brought in enough additional revenue to cover this entire contract. No one should get too worked up about the $$.

I'm not worried about the money, I'm worried about becoming a whipping boy.

I obviously don’t know what he would do if staring at that, but my impression is that Penny will either figure it out or walk. I can’t see him walking, so I’m thinking he gets it figured out. I definitely don’t see him holding the school hostage over a contract.

What is he going to figure out? How to beat **** teams like Tulsa?

They were reg season co-champs last year and Haith was COY. So yeah, that.

Yeah, **** team... 22 points in the second half, 49 for the game. So yeah, that...

As far as college coach extensions go it as very modest.

Penny loves Memphis and I believe will get this fixed.

He needs a grizzled veteran on staff.

Unfortunately, it was probably the worst timing possible to announce this deal and then go out and lose.

So, you're saying it's BAU from the geniuses at the UofM athletic department...

He's needed that from day one, it's now day... uh, however many days it's been. Our geniuses denied him Larry Brown who would have proven an invaluable asset.

Right... At some point we have to stop crying about Larry and go find one of the dozens of other qualified coaches out there.

I’ve seen others state that the conference put up the roadblock re Brown. Maybe it was both.

If the wins don’t come the fan will eventually turn and the recruiting will tail off. Penny has yet to show that he’s a d1 caliber coach. This might end ugly
