Monday Musings
Christmas Week is here. I will be out shopping downtown and depot town for my gifts for the family. Great local shops in Ypsilanti with quirky gifts can only be #ypsireal.
I am not surprised our recruiting class included zero in-state signings. This season Michigan high school was stopped, started, stopped, started, paused, then practice is resuming again today. Hard to evaluate players. I think EMU will be a bigger player in the portal for in-state kids who need a home, although I muse we might be losing one of our best in-state kids soon.
Basketball should have waited to play. Remember how excited we were when we played MSU close for a half? Now MSU is 0-1 in B1G play after getting napalmed by Northwestern.
I wonder if the other 13 teams not in OHio are feeling the B1G should have played in the spring with the Pac 12 and a real rose bowl on memorial day.
The playoff cannot be fixed until the death star (Bama) explodes and takes out clemson too. I think Cincinnati playing Bama would have looked like the 2015 MSU-BAMA game.

I have the same concern about losing a key Michigan player. Some really weird tweets.

BTW, I went through the roster and counted 33 players from MI. I don't know the ratio between scholarship and walk-ons. (we do have a good number of MI walk-ons).

RE: Monday Musings
Sometimes it is great to be the 'only game in town' - something EMU has never been (although UofM and Lions' FB wasn't much this year).
Jackson State is literally getting TONS of newspaper coverage. Must be nice!!!!

Can you blame Grissom????? Last season in 13 games, I bet he played in 100 plays! And this shortened season, when he was available he never played! He had TWENTY FOUR D1 offers out of high school many, many P5 offers! He simply picked the wrong school for himself! He has the physical tools to play in the Big 10, or Big 12!

The MAC, B1G and Pac 12 should have stuck to their guns and played in spring for sure. This fall was not a "season" in any sense of the word. The cancelled games became comedic and when you replace a contestant in the so called "championship"
game due to the virus like the Pac 12 had to, then little else needs to be said. This NCAA season should have a huge ASTERIK placed on it, after all 2-8 South Carolina is actually playing in a bowl game!
You and most TV analysts may be right about Cincinnati getting killed in a bowl game. Still Cincy and Coastal Carolina are FBS participants and won every game they played this year, a team cannot do much more. If they are less deserving of being included in the CFP than a less than impressive OSU or Notre Dame who got blown off the field in their last game, why are they in the FBS? In my opinion, it is high time that that the G5 have their own playoff if they are going to be excluded from the CFP. No TV interest some might say, but how electrified are viewers going to have watching FIVE teams with losing records playing in bowls this year?
Side question: What are the intriguing shops in Ypsilanti for gifts? I'm there quite often but I must admit my attendance favors establishments that serve adult beverages.

Rocket is good, Unicorn is good, A2 records is good. Brick and mortar in depot town is good too. Of course the gift everyone want is a five star dive bar t-shirt from Powells.

Thanks for info brothers! I have been by all of the aforementioned places many times but never stopped in.
Upon reflection I have spent more money dining and especially drinking in Ypsilanti than I do in my residential town of Ann Arbor. I think it is time to do some retail as well.

Fun musing I just saw on the bottom line while watching this MSU-Wisconsin game: Tied for 8th in blocks per game across the whole NCAA, with 3 BPG, Ty Groce!
