I believe BYU ran a hook and lateral on a two point conversion yesterday. Nice red zone play idea.

IMO, the UGA game will be our biggest test since the O$U game and it should be, but I like our chances if the O line can not have 294 false starts amid what will surely be a very noisy venue. UC may not win but I definitely think we'll be more competitive than our list New Year's Day-ish bowl game... and we definitely won't lose our coach this time.

I believed we were on ND and A&M level up until this past weekend. Tulsa running it down our throat really shook me. Outside of QB, I think Tulsa was the better team.

We had a lot of ring rust from not playing for a month. With 2 weeks of minimal contact with the staff and players. Having the ball 2 times down there inside the ten in the 4th with not scoring .....well normally we score both times. Without that one month layoff no way we have 9 pre snap penalties.

Heck, just let Pierce and Whylie climb the ladder. Not to many DBs could cover those two between their height and athleticism.

Yeah, I agree...I'm not normally a fan of the fade route in the red zone, but with a guy like Whyle who is 6'6" and can put up a 34" very, or someone like Pierce who is a bit shorter but can jump out of the atmosphere, you have to do that once every time through of your QB can put it anywhere close to where it needs to be, which I think Rodder can.

And IIRC the cool part about the shovel pass was that Kelce didn't go in motion in front of Mahomes. He lined up in the usual TE spot, stood up and took a quick step back and Mahomes kind of flipped it 8 or 10 feet to him. Kelce just caught it and took a few steps into the end zone. If it falls or gets knocked down it's an incomplete pass and not a fumble. IMO it was a brilliant play design. I'd love to see UC try something similar with Doaks or Ford breaking to the opposite side like it's a quick pitch after a 2nd TE has gone in motion away from the play and then Des just flips it to the TE

We're 10-0! Who knew...

Quote:The Cincinnati Bearcats and Georgia Bulldogs will face off in the 2021 Peach Bowl. The game will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET on January 1. The game will air on ESPN and will be available via live stream at WatchESPN.

Cincinnati are the 10-0 American Conference Champions, behind their 27-24 win over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the title game on December 19th. Desmond Ridder is one of the best quarterbacks in his conference, adding 2,445 yards and 20 touchdowns to a team that has relied on an elite defense all season.

Georgia has looked like a different team since JT Daniels took over at quarterback. The transfer from USC has 839 yards nine touchdowns with just one interception in three games since getting under center earlier this year.

The game will take place in one of the best venues in college football, but also Atlanta has often been the city that drowns favorites. The Dawgs will be favored at home, but can they escape back to Athens with a major bowl victory?

10-0 With A Peach Bowl Victory

More Dawgs opt out

Quote:DawgNation has confirmed that Ojulari, the team’s sacks leader with 5.5, will not play in the game. UGASports.com was first to report the most recent attrition.

The Bulldogs are expected to be without at least 11 former starters, including an eye-popping nine that have chosen to “opt-out” rather than suit up one final time with their teammates at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 1 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

I wonder if they can change their mind. Of course next guy up down there is a high 4* for most spots.

Those suiting up will also want to prove their worth and solidify a starting spot for next year. They won’t lack in talent and will be even more motivated than the starters would be if they decided to play. Since UGA is so talented I’m not sure this is as big of a deal as maybe a less talented team. Unless injuries occur or they are hit especially hard at one particular position group.

If anything I think the young guys will play better, or at least harder, than a possibly apathetic starter who is planning on leaving after this game

They will likely play with more energy and enthusiasm but the hope is that the lack of experience might help the Bearcats.

I think we'll get a little help early, but I don't think this is going to be a situation like when ucf was playing lsu. Lsu had receivers playing db in that game. I think georgia is going to be rolling out 4/5 star guys who are hungry and want to prove themselves. Looking at their 247 site looks like most of the opt outs are defense, specially db. Gonna need dez to win with his arm I think. Probably going to be a shootout with the way their o has been playing

They may play hard, but I think it’s unrealistic to think they will be better than the guys that are opting out. Advantage: Bearcats.

Oh yeah I agree. Any opt out is going to help uc. There's a reason those guys are back ups lol. I was just thinking that opt outs don't mean the replacements are going to suck

Georgia fan story:

One time years ago in the course of my job I had to take a statement from a guy in Georgia. He sounded winded and was having a hard time articulating his answers. It was rather noticeable and at one point I asked him if he was OK.

He said that he was OK, but had broken three ribs while watching the Georgia Bulldogs game on saturday.

... I didn't ask him how.

I Was wondering the same thing. There must be a date when they have to decide and officially announce if they’re playing or not. This will give our coaching staff info needed to prep.

Also - We are all super loyal fans of our team. And I know things have changed in the last 20 years. NFL players make big money. People don’t want to get hurt in their bowl game. But if it was my son, and he was going to be a top 10 pick, I would want him to play that last game. He could’ve got hurt in game five or the bowl game. I would want to be there to finish it out. Not sure how you guys feel about this.

I guess supposedly this is like a glorified game to get ready for next year and sometimes people play underclassmen. I would have a tough time if I was a Georgia fan if 11 starters were not playing in the bowl game. It may sour me on those players. But I know they get used as college athletes so there’s two sides to it.

A financially smart family of a kid who was going to be drafted would invest in an injury insurance policy for that game (heck, perhaps for that entire season). That way, if all goes well, you just lose the cost of the policy and keep the goodwill of all those alumni who you may be coming back to for a job in the future. If an injury, you have a financial settlement to fall back upon.
