Exclamation MAC Sagarin rankings since 2010
Did some research earlier this year when I saw a standard "MAC sucks they should drop to FCS" post. We have our weak seasons and attendance is always a sore spot, but don't let people tell you that we're the absolute worst where it matters: on the field.

These assumptions are based off Sagarin, it isn't perfect by any means but it's a pretty widely accepted ranking system. Here's where we've been the past decade; in 2013 he started listing by division instead of total conference (where applicable), and he always tracks FCS with FBS.

2010: 13th, above the Belt
2011: 11th, above the Belt
2012: 10th, above C-USA and MWC
2013: West 17th (above C-USA East), East 20th (last in FBS); averaged last
2014: West 14th (above the AAC, C-USA West, and Belt), East 19th (last in FBS); averaged above the Belt
2015: West 14th (above MWC West, C-USA East and West, and Belt), East 18th (above C-USA West and Belt); averaged above C-USA and Belt
2016: West 14th (above the Belt, MWC West, C-USA East and West), East 20th (last); averaged above C-USA Total
2017: West 14th (above MWC West, C-USA East and West, and Belt), East 18th (above Belt); averaged above C-USA Total and Belt
2018: West 16th (above C-USA East and West, Belt West), East 18th (above C-USA West and Belt West); averaged above C-USA Total and Belt Total
2019: West 16th (above Independents, Belt West, and C-USA East), East 19th (above C-USA West); averaged above C-USA Total
2020: West 15th, East 16th (above both C-USA divisions and Belt West); averaging about C-USA Total by a good margin, not that far behind Belt Total. Though comparing conferences that don't play each other is pretty useless.

That's not something to brag about, but the MAC average was last just once since 2010 while the Belt has six such seasons and the C-USA is on the verge of seven. If you wanna talk about the East by itself or how bad some of our bad teams are that's another discussion. Feel free to share if you want.

2013 was a deep year for the MAC. Surprised at that stat. Bowl games hurt us that year for sure.

Keep in mind that Miami and UMass were really, really bad.

I understand what you are trying to say, but the truth is ESPN via Kirk Herbstreit and Mack Brown yesterday just told every team outside the P5+Notre Dame to go join the FCS. If UC, UCF, BYU and Boise are told to get used to being third, there is no chance for the MAC.

You're right, though whether or not the G5 as a whole should be demoted below the P5 is a completely different conversation. The OP really just applies to the discussion about the MAC's place in the G5 (which imo is firmly in the middle of the five most seasons); Kirk and Mack are talking power conferences versus everyone else.
