Only 2 points halfway through the 3rd. Someone from Rice needs to score. Schwartz picks up her third foul.

In all honesty if we win this game it'll be because A&M couldn't take advantage of this. Can hardly describe what Rice is doing on offense as basketball. Still 30-30 somehow. Rice with 2 pts and 5 TOs in the 3rd quarter according to the stat tracker (I don't think that TOs number is correct).

Rice usually does well in the 3rd quarter but not this game. A&M starting to take advantage. A&M leads 39-33.

8 mins have gone by in the 3rd and Rice has attempted ONLY 5 shots.

A&M dominating us and it's because of the TOs. A&M has 13 shots in the quarter, Rice just 5. And I'm honestly not sure what Langley should do. Wiggins in foul trouble, Crosthwaite and Schwartz largely invisible, and Jackson and Bellamy just aren't big enough offensive threats.

A&M seals a horrible quarter for the Owls with a buzzer beater 3. Owls outscore 20-8 in the quarter, trail 44-36 going to 4Q.

9 tunrovers in the 3rd. Rice finds itself down by 8 after allowing a 3 pointer at the buzzer.

Just a dagger 3 at the buzzer by A&M. And that quarter right there is why A&M is ranked and we aren't. 2-8 shooting for Rice in the quarter and 10 TOs. It's a small miracle that A&M only leads by 8. Realistically we're just never gonna beat a ranked team when Wiggins, Schwartz, Crosthwaite have a combined 8 points.

Turnovers have long been the biggest problem with Langley's teams, and it's no exception here. First possession of the 4th quarter...turnover by Crosthwaite.

Just an awesome game from Smith. Four straight from her make it a 46-42 A&M lead. 18 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast, and 2 stls for her so far.

Smith really the only bright spot today. 18 points and cuts it to 4.

Couple huge buckets by Bellamy to cut the lead to 3 with 4:00 left.

RE: Rice WBB at Texas A&M (#10)
Mulkey hits two FTs and Rice is down by 1 with 1:26 left. A&M then comes back to make a layup.

Two more Mulkey FTs....but A&M comes back to score again.

Rice down by 3 with 0:42 left. Rice calls timeout with the ball. Wish we could re do the 3rd.

Jackson misses an easy layup! And Rice commits a foul. A&M heads to the line with a 3 point lead.

A&M makes 1 of 2.

Rice TO down by 4 with 3 secs left.

RE: Rice WBB at Texas A&M (#10)
57-53 Texas A&M. Better team won unfortunately. Just wasn't enough execution on offense. Excluding the 3rd quarter, we outscored them 45-37. We're good enough to beat teams like A&M, but we were just way too sloppy in that 3rd quarter.

I think we should be the favorite in CUSA. But if we're going to make waves, we're going to need more offensive contributions in big games. And unlike a team like A&M which can really rely on individuals to make plays, we need more cohesiveness. Too often our TOs are the result of poor offensive execution as a whole.

Rice 53
A&M 57
FINAL

Rice just had way too many tunrovers and droughts.

The 10 3Q turnovers was the difference in the game. The stat sheet was virtually even. Aside from TOs the only edge the Aggies had on us were second chance points. We only gave up 12 offensive rebounds, but all but one resulted in Aggie buckets.

On the plus side, great game by Jasmine, and an overall terrific defensve effort. No quit with this team. Wiggin's foul troubles clearly affected her aggressiveness throughout the second half. I'm not sure what's with Schwartz this year-- rather than stepping up with Erica gone she's in the midst of a sophomore slump. Hasn't really had a quality game yet. Costhwait had her first off shooting game, and for whatever reason Swayze was reluctant to shoot.

As horrific as that 3Q was it's hard to feel bad about the effort. We played the #10 team in the country (who had earlier beaten Baylor by 10 points in Waco) virtually even on the road.

Can't always get a win (especially against a top team). Fun game to watch.

A&M hasn’t played Baylor this season. However, the Aggies have beaten ranked DePaul and Texas this season, both road games for the Aggies.
